This microbrew pup offers around six of its own brews, as well as a wide range of imports and domestic craft brews. The O'Hooley brews I tried--Wilfred Brimley's Oatmeal Stout and Drunken Leperchaun Irish Ale--were both solid.

The atomosphere is quite different than most brewbubs as it usually features musical entertainment in the Jam Band vein. Thus, Grateful Dead and other bands of their ilk blared from the speakers all night and the crowd was dominated by neo-Hippies--which is fine, as they are a generally a peaceful, fun-loving brood, but I don't care much for their music of choice or their unoriginal, conformist non-conformity.

There is a pool table and nice deck out back to catch some fresh air. Much superior to the average Athen's dive and I will gladly return next trip to Athens. (806 characters)

Was at the taproom so the choice of food was limited, but you don't go there for the food, and the beer didn't disappoint. Great choices on tap and in bottles to go. Staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. (212 characters)

Pretty cool place, if you're a young bachelor, hipster, or college kid. Otherwise, its loud and uncomfortable dining area is hardly conducive to a family dining experience. It's still a cool place, though. Just don't take your family there. (241 characters)

Taproom is small and quaint. Had lunch on a Friday afternoon. Vibe is nice, with beer postings everywhere and a nice horseshoe bar.

Everything we had was really good quality. Beer was fresh and didn't have a single bad beer. Had a flight of eight and tasted samples of a few others.

BB Kiln and Mystic mama were my pints and both were excellent.

Dinged on service, because the bartender was slow and they dont have a wait staff.

Slight ding on selection as there was a small menu. I believe the reason was that their main dining facility had a fire or flood though.

Food was very good. Pizza dough made out of spent grain and tasty fried pickles. (660 characters)

I was fortunate to go to college here for four years (OU). Jackie O's is definitely a great place to grab great beers in Athens. (128 characters)

Gotta edit this review.

Went recently and found out they don't actually have any bottles to go. They were only selling their bottles and said it had to be consumed in the store. Apart from that, they only had two of their offerings available via bottle!

I was kind of bummed because I can find a better Jackie O's selection in Columbus than in the brewery itself!

Maybe I just came on an off day, but the fact that they don't have bottles available to be purchased and taken out was a little surprising. Hope they get the proper documents to be able to sell from their brewery! Love their beer. (605 characters)

Jackie O's is one of my personal favorite breweries. The brewpub is located on Union Street, which is about a half a block off Athens' main street, Court Street in its quaint downtown area. Athens has a very cool vibe and Jackie O's is its craft beer mecca. The brewpub and a larger bar area called the public house are connected by an outdoor courtyard area. They both offer a large variety of in-house brews as well as some guest beers usually with a few featured guest breweries- often also local. And yes you can take your drinks out into the courtyard- there are tables to sit. The 12 taps listed on this page isn't accurate. I would guess that there are more than twelve in the brewpub alone. They sell growlers and bottles/cans of their stuff when available. Now there is a tasting room at the actual brewery which is about 2 or 3 miles away near the football stadium as well. There you can also get growlers with a limited selection, but they have barrel-aged bottles and limited release bottles you can't find anywhere else. The food is good but the beer is amazing. Huge variety of styles from a milk stout aged in sour barrels to a imperial paw paw wheat, you can find anything and the seasonal options do not disappoint. I've been to a majority of the better craft beer places in the Ohio, Penn, WV, KY area and this place is still my favorite. (1,356 characters)
