Jackie O's is a gem. It is a mix of entrepreneurial spirit and backwoods, bluegrass charm. Everything inside appears to be wood except for the fermentation tanks and Appalachian locals. If you weren't in Athens, Ohio, you would think that you had stumbled into some sort of hip ski lodge.

The beer selection isn't big, but precise. There isn't a throwaway beer on tap. Their own beers are good, not gimmicky. They try to really execute a style. And their guest beers are really fine choices. They are typically from Michigan: Founders, Bells, etc., which helps the whole experience feel local, which it is.

There isn't a cooler place to go to in Athens, except for maybe the converted 18th Century insane asylum up on the hill. But they don't serve beer, and it's not that far of a walk anyway.

Went to the new brewery on Campbell St on 10/25/14. Got there right at opening and enjoyed a flight of all the current taps. Almost all were very tasty. Talked with several staff members and they opened some of the barrel aged beers for me to sample prior to purchasing several cases. They even opened a few rare sours from 2013 for me to try because I love sours.

This place is awesome and I will definitely go back sometime in the near future. Great bunch of guys making really good beer. I highly recommend a visit. You will not leave disappointed. Keep it up, guys. Cheers

Didn't make it to the brew pub but stopped at the tasting room. THE BEST BREWERY EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD! The barrel program here is incredible and stands above any other brewery! Brad, brewmaster, gave a phenomenal personal tour! It was so incredible that I don't even want to say what we did in fear that people will try to force him to do it for them. All I can say, check this place out and hope that he invites you into the barrel room and MAYBE your taste buds will be treated to the same deliciousness that I was. THANK YOU JACKIE O AND THANK YOU BRAD!!! Unbelievable!

Place was dingy looked ran down and poorly lite inside. Service was average bartender didn't like to be rushed with all four people sitting at the bar. Toilet had a trough urinal in it been a long time since I've seen one of those and this was a newer looking urinal. Had pizza it was exceptionally good I was surprised it was that good. Didn't have that many IPAs on tap which was disappointing had a sip of Matriarch before it kicked no more to replace it. Wasn't over the moon with their pumpkin ale, or flavored Wheats. Their barleywine was good. Just overall slightly disappointed with the place even though Jackie O's does make good beers I wouldn't go back to this place if I wasn't in the immediate area.

I was here and saw and heard everything rden said in his review. The man behind the bar was just plain rude I stopped in here on my visit from Fla. and would never consider coming back for their particular brand of customer disservice. I exchanged my # with rden and told him I would add my two cents as well. Over priced beers and average bar food at best. I couldn't even purchase a soda if I wanted to at the brewery. I can't wait to see what the rest of the people that were with him have to say. I joined beer advocate just to voice my discontent with Jackie O's. Avoid this place at all costs.

Masters of their own Mayhem here poor comunication within the entire operation which leads to misleading information to the general public you serve!!!! If I could give this place a .01 I would. BA will only allow a 1 as a low score. Jackie O's has some first class beers that is not the problem. The problem is the head of this horse has no clue what the backside is doing and they are rude and arrogant people. People drive several hours to try and buy some of their beers and should not be treated the way I was or other patrons that I saw there were. We called ahead to find out what the limits were and I emailed them as well. We were told 6 per person per day on the BBA Black Maples and 2 per day on the RBA Oil of Aphrodite on 10/3/14 and this is exactly what my email stated as well from JackieO's. A friend of mine was at Jackie O's the previous week on Fri. the 26th of Sept. and purchased exactly that amount 6 BBABM's and 2 RBAOA's. I texted him just to confirm and this was the case. When we got to the brewery that purposely has no operational phone so that you could ask the horse exactly what the limits are in the bar area. So we place our orders for 6 BBBM's and 2 RBAOA's and the jerk behind the bar starts talking at the top of his voice SIR SIR you can not order that much of the BBABM's like I was suposed to know that. I said excuse me we were told that you could and I also showed him the email stating such and he rolls his eye's like I don't care what that say's and states this as well and that this has been the limit for two months now. I know that this is false because I checked with my buddy and he purchased 6 BBABM's the previous week and he texted me the picture as he still has all of them. So I was completely being lied to. And this guy knows that I know he is a Liar he doesn't even hide it well as his face turns beet red. And say's this is what it's going to be and you can have two Black Maples per person Ok fine. Now here get a clue first your web page states that you are out of RBAOA as of 10/3/14 and said you had it on 10/2/14 as per your website and confirme in my email. This is false they would sell us as much as we wanted on 10/4/14 so the people that keep your website status up has no real clue what type of inventory you really do have No Comunication!!!! Why should I be shocked by this put a phone in you Morons it's time to come screaming into the 20th century. And then in another century or so you can get a computer in the brewery so they can keep the inventory updated and accurate as to what you have and what you really don't. You can also network them so that your website will always be up to date on inventory so the person that updates the site will have access to that information right at their fingertips!!!! And secondly put the limits on the website so that there is no confusion between the general public and your third rate operation. The bottom line comunication is the key and quite frankly it is piss poor throughout the entire operation. Is the beer worth all of this aggrivation? NO!!! There are way two many quality beers out today to be willing to make a drive here to get them in PonDunk no place and deal with the arrogance and the nonsense if you can go elsewhere. You can get just as good of quality beer and more of it elsewhere. At $11.99 for a 12.7 ounce beer the price point is way to high when most will give you 22 ounces bottled at that price point and better beers as well. It's just not worth it to be lied to and talked at the way they do!!!

A most excellent visit that I have long awaited for. We were evidently in the "public house"
which is attached to Jackie O' which is somewhat small and cluttered and rather----open...
open---like all the doors open. Service was decent enough with knowledgeable staff about
the offerings. Atmosphere was pretty much in the "dive" category. Management could use
some tips on cleaning and give some of those gals and guys behind the bar a hand when they
are slammed. That said, the food was excellent and cooked to order. They are conscientious
about the brewing process and give the spent grains to the farmers who supply them with top
notch beef (some of the best I have ever had) and even make a spent grain pizza which many
there were getting.

The beer, which is why me and the little lady came in the first place, is MOST EXCELLENT. All
were solid with collaborations and some limited cask and nitro offerings as well. Will we make
the journey again, YOU BET. Could they use some work in all around cleanliness like the
bathroom or general maintaining that everything isn't cluttered and out of sorts. You bet.
It is a world class brewery and eatery and bakery that needs some better practices, then
again, like I said, the beer was some of the best I have ever had.

Made it down to the taproom for the first time today, which is very easy to find off 33. The red barn is located just off the main road - it definitely stands out among the other stores in the area.

It was cool to see the barrel room from the parking lot. People were definitely brewing today. Once inside the barn, there is limited seating with a small tap list. The reason I went down was to snag some limited bottles (BB Black Maple, Oil of Aphrodite & Rum Oil). Employees were extremely nice and helped carry the beer out to my car.

Awesome place to visit when traveling through Athens. Too bad 95% of the people who live there don't appreciate its full worth.
