A Belgian Trappist triple yeast culture balanced with the finest imported pale barley, Belgian aromatic malt and oats, gives this golden ale a fruity bouquet and a light refined taste.

12oz can
Sprecher Abbey Triple has almost a clear golden body. A nice 1 ¾ finger white foamy head sat atop. The head reduced to spotty lacing. The nose picked-up fruit, candy sugars and was bready. The taste is similar to the nose with also apple, banana, and light spices noted. Medium body with a moderate amount carbonation. A little alcohol warming at the finish was present.

Overall, Abbey Triple is a good representation of the style. However, not up to the top shelf Triples.

Pours out of the can a hazy rich orange with a finger of head that dissipates quickly. Smells yeasty, bready, and spicy. Tastes follows the nose well while not being too boozy. The carbonation fits well for the style and is nice brew.

Appearance: Pours a clear, medium orange color with a mild white head. SRM of 11. (3.50)

Aroma: Milder aromas of bread, lemon bread, banana bread, some yeast with a biscuit malt body. (3.75)

Flavor: Moderate flavors of bread and spice. There's coriander, banana bread and spices. Finishes with some yeast with a sweet and bready body. (3.50)

Feel: Medium-bodied, Slightly heavy with only average carbonation and finishes sweet. (3.25)

Compared to New Belgium Tripel 12/2022: Pours a darker color, milder head. Milder aromas. More sweet bread malt and booze. Less flower, Belgian spice and yeast. Sweeter and heavier. Winner: New Belgium.

Overall: Sprecher may get a good reputation for some things, but I don't think this beer should be one of them. It has a dense, sweet malt body but lacks the complex Belgian flavors of floral, yeast, and spice to back it up. Drinks malty, heavy, and sweet. Shows the booze. Sorry, but I'd pick the New Belgium Tripel every time over this one. (Rating: 3.54)

A bottle poured into a pint glass. Pour had a slight off-white foam head with ample effervescence flowing upward through the pale golden-amber body. Scent has a hint of spiced dark fruit and an overall triple scent. Taste matches well with a delightful spice and dark fruit profile balanced by a malty backbone -- no IBUs to be found here! Feel is smooth but crisp, quickly launching off the tongue and fading into the ether. Overall a solid tripel.

Bottle from BWP Liquors in Lake Delton, poured into tulip glass two weeks later. Not Erastus/Golden Monkey, but next tier tasty.

Pours from bottle honey amber haze with slight white foamy head that quickly fades. Notes of sweet honey clove spice, aromatic malts, plum and dates make this a nice classic Abbey Triple at 8.4%. Good beer club tripel style brew.

a: dark copper color with some burnt yellow, almost amber notes. doesn't pour any real head which is strange for the style

s: wet cardboard, clove, green apple skin. some pear, pepper spice and sweet grass. not good

t: some sweet green apples and pears. cardboard, sweet grass, and a bunch of cloves. a bit of alcohol at the back as well

m: fuller side of medium, strong carbonation

o: not great. aroma is severely lacking and it tastes a bit homebrew like, not knocking - i couldn't crew anything better, but still, i'd not buy this again

Great find in the bargain section, maybe the best tripel with a twist off cap. Mostly clear effervescent golden amber body, white head with light lacing. Yeast leads both smell and taste with floral and fruit ester tones, especially lemon pear and big apple. There is some honey dipped oat and phenols to go with in nose. Taste is very sweet for the style for the first third of the sip: caramel, honey and apple cider combo, then yeast carries home as it smell without the lemon. Feel is not yeasty though, malty more than anything, light and crushable despite having decent carbonation. A gateway tripel

Love it. Amber, yet darker, smells of alcohol and baked bread, tastes of great, lots of hoppy bready heavy alociloy yummness. First time trying a Sprecher, glad I did
