12oz bottle picked up tonight at the 16th st. Albertsons... Poured into my little goblet... a polished golden... spotty white head is about par for the course.
Nose shows a lite fruitiness that moves quickly into plenty of Pils malt... More of a PNW interpretation with a grassy/herbaceous hoppiness.. too much hoppiness for its Continental brothers but right at home in Boise.
Flavor shows a nice soft pale maltiness.. Again the PNW shows in the bitter-backbone.. finishes with a slight minerally note and just dry enough... Very drinkable... crisp with smooth maltiness on the finish that begs for another sip...
Not really getting too much of the expected lite fruitiness to really make this a home-run... but this is certainly near perfect for an American take... and I actually like the PNW version better than any Kolsch I have had in recent memory.

Poured into a Sester stange. Pours a light straw amber with a big three finger white head that dissipates slowly go a thick cap, leaving lots of lacing. Aroma of biscuit malt, wheat, light caramel and grassy hops, what I expect from a Kolsch. Flavor is more bready malt with some biscuit, light citrus, a hint of wheat and a mild sweet / tart element to the malt and a bit of grassy hops in the finish. Light bodied. A light, malty, good domestic take on this style, with a slight sweetness that is atypical, but mild enough to work out fine. A refreshing light session beer. Nice to see this style being offered in the states; we rarely can sample it fresh.

Finally a Kolsch style from a NW brewer that is worthy of the association. So many others have tried and left me disappointed ...
Excellent as a food beer or just kicking back. The outstanding feature of this beer was the nose I got just when first opening the bottle. Mmmm, beer!

On draft at The Ginger Man, NYC.
Poured a clean straw hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.
The smell featured a light pilsner malt.
The taste offered a cracker malt with a touch of noble hop spice.
The mouthfeel was typical of the style.
Overall a tasty and very quaffable ale.

22 oz bomber bought from Winco supermarket in S,Salem. $3.71 pours a bright joyful yellow ,slightly hazed, with a gorgeous plump and fluffy large white head. Malty, biscuity aroma with a touch of lemon zest andearth..nice stuff. Taste is much the same as the aroma but a bit of hop bitterness right at the end. Very nice mouth feel actually..thicker than expected and very smooth. Excellent summer beer.

12oz : stange
Clear, golden yellow with a thick, billowy white head.
Grassy, lightly sweet grains in both the aroma and taste.
Medium body, fizzy, active carbonation and a lightly crisp finish.
A very well done Kolsch, pleasant flavor, easy drinking.

Poured from 22oz bomber into a pint glass.
Appearance: light golden hue with a little bit of haze and a pretty strong effervescence. Head is a thick finger of pillowy white foam. Pretty good!
Smell: sweet malt with a light, yeasty breadiness and a bit of a floral character. This rubs me the right way.
Taste: lightly sweet with more yeasty character; this is quite floral and there's a nice bitterness which is maybe a little on the strong side for a Kölsch, but is quite nice nonetheless.
Mouthfeel: light body but a huge carbonation yielding a giant, awesome creaminess. Shazam!
Overall: a perfectly cromulent Kölsch. Quaffable, interesting and tasty -- what more do you need?

Pours a hazy golden-yellow with a foamy bone head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, earth, and grass aromas. Taste is much the same with grain and grass flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is refreshing, tasty, and easy to drink.
