Poured into a snifter/tulip/wine hybrid glass from a 22oz bottle
A - A deep translucent copper, less than a one finger off white head and sticky legs/lacing
S - The malt/grains really jump out front and a smooth mixture of sweet and roasted, brown sugar, sweet pine, ripe pineapple, sweet citrus rinds, nice alcohol note, west coast style yeast and the hops are their but slight when compared to the malt/sweet.
T - fruity and floral hops, very bitter up front, sweet, slight booze, bitter citrus rinds, roasted and sweet malts, yeast is hidden beneath all the bitter and than sweet, very crisp, clean and more sweet matliness to end it.
M - Medium plus body, okay balance, decent complexity, medium plus acidity, medium plus carbonation and bitter sweet from front to back
D/O - This is a beast of a bitter hoppy beer with tons of malt backbone. The hops in both the nose are very "clumped" together. Still very nice, clean and refreshing. Though tricerihops > velocihoptor all day.
Final thoughts - Nearly $9 is a bit extravagant for it's taste, smell and ABV (8.4%). Definitely worth a try and with it's huge malt backbone might be age-able as well.

Consumed April 17 2016, looks like it was in competition with FW's 001 in the Luponic Distortion series (and lost).
Pours a malty amber appearance. One of "those beers". 1/2" off white head. Aroma is mostly caramel, possibly zero dry hops, just has a Simcoe meets other lesser bittering hops feel to it.
Taste is definitely Simcoe leading the contingent of bittering hops. Still pushes a healthy degree of maltiness for when rubes want an ipa approaching balance. There is a bitter woodiness to it understandable from a Simcoe and Centennial combo. Meridian doesn't do much but offer a confusing note, possibly close to a mild spicy spearmint as the agricultural tug job for their hops would lead you to believe, similar to what Sterling can do and is used here. Bravo is just a substitute good for CTZ, neither of which impact this beer like they can when used with a lighter malt bill. No point when this is draped in caramel malty notes.
You know what my favorite thing about today is? The worst people on social media are relatively quiet.

Clear amber orange with one fat finger of bone color head. The head is dense and lasts about ten minutes leaving a curtain of fine bubble lace.
Smell is dank pine and malt sweetness.
Taste is dank hop pine bitterness with a big malt presence that can't smother the hop oils.
Mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation. Finish is dry and bitter.
Overall a really big beer with plenty of flavor.

Quite red with no head or lacing.
Burnt sugars are balanced by bright hop flavors and some rather lovely malts. Taste is more rustic than tropical. Lightish carbonation makes this quaffable.
Pretty good.

Ninkasi's Velocihoptor is a red / cola brown IPA with a lot of tan head. 22oz served in a can glass. Ooh yes, this is a big beer. Yes, there's a lot of big alpha bitterness. By that measure this passes as an IPA. But there's also a really impressive malt bill. Medium caramel and red barley malts produce flavors of burnt sugar, biscuit, and a hint of nuttiness. The hop flavors are the more traditional grapefruit/citrus and pine variety. This is not an easy-drinking beer, and I wouldn't go so far as to say it's well-balanced. But Ninkasi have pulled off a DIPA with ample hops and an even more interesting malt profile -- truly impressive.

On tap @ Bardenay, Eagle ID.
Pours a semi hazy darker gold with a decent amount of lace left behind. Smell and taste is of dank, piney citrus rind and grapefruit, with a bready backbone. Light-to-medium bitterness, fuller bodied.
Overall this isn't something I would revisit, it's a fairly familiar IPA that doesn't do anything new.

22 oz bomber. Pours hazy reddish amber with a big rocky off white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is rye malts with spicy piney hops.
The flavor is sweet bready rye caramel malt with a little fruit and spicy piney peppery hops with good bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, a nice DIPA. Reminiscent to Hog Heaven.
