A very brown beer with a deep amber color throughout it and a nice carbonation to it that leaves a beautiful lace around the edges of the glass with each sip. The smell was mildly hoppy, it was not a punch in the face with hops like the IPA's I am accustomed to drinking from San Diego. Not being smacked with hops is kind of refreshing, leaves the nose not burning from smelling a bag of wet grass. The taste is nice and florally as a IPA should be, had a bit of bitterness which kind of detracts from an IPA from me. I feel like it could have been a little bit more balanced in that sense. Again, the hop level is not all to high and I feel like the bitterness isn't justified. Mouthfeel is that of a very crisp light IPA. The carbonation plays a very good role but does not feel like soda pop, yet is not flat. Drinkability would be very high if it did not have that eerie bitterness on it. Yet, it still would be very easy to have a few of these. I'd still rather have an IPA from Alpine or Pizza Port but then again I am just spoiled by the amazing IPA's this region produces. If you are looking for a decent IPA this will not dissapoint, but it also is nothing to really write home about either.
I would like to point out that it shouldn't matter, but Ninkasi has some of the worst labels IMO(besides Sleigh'r that one rules!) But! For such terrible labels they actually put out really decent beers.

Boring as far as IPAs go. Nose is muted and I don't get much of the citrusy, fruity goodness I usually get with IPAs. Taste is just... Bitter. There's not much fruit or pine in the hop profile. There is a pleasant malty sweetness under the hoppiness. Overall, I'd say this is a rather one-dimensional and mediocre IPA.
