Total Domination is by far one of my favorite beers, it smells and tastes amazing. Total domination was the first IPA I had tried and it completely changed how I look at beer in general now. I have now tried many IPA's but this is truly the best yet.

12oz bottle poured into a large snifter. 163 A2 2147 is the code on the bottom of the bottle. Reviewed on 6 September 2013.

Pours a ruby-gold color with a small head. Clear, slow fine carbonation. Slight yeasty tang to the aroma, mostly pine.

Taste is pine, toffee, grapefruit rind, more pine. A little flowery sweetness, but heavily toward the bitter side of the balance, but not crazy (coming from a fairly serious hophead, so take it for what it's worth).

Mouthfeel is smooth and nice. Overall, certainly an acceptable beer. One of the variety where I'll say, "Well, at least that's available."

12 oz bottle poured into an IPA Glass (get one from Sierra Nevada or Dogfish Head if you don't have one!)

Appearance: Ninkasi has sleek, simple labels. They definitely look good on the shelves. Once poured out, the beer rides the line between deep gold and light amber in color, with beautiful head retention (even better than most IPAs in this glass with the nucleation).

Smell: Very light, a teeny bit grassy, and a little bit of what *might* be malt. Hard to tell.

Taste: Your whole mouth get a balanced hop flavor for a second, then it all sits in the back of your throat. Not a bad hop bitterness. With any IPA I hope to either have a good balance of malt and hops (East Coast or English style) or to have a floral hop aroma that makes up for a lack of malt (West Coast style, especially Oregon/Washington). This doesn't seem to have either. The bitterness isn't debilitating, though.

Feel: I give this beer more credit because of the nice body they came out with. If it was too thin it wouldn't be as enjoyable after half the glass, but as it stands, they did strike a balance between refreshing and filling.

Overall: Generally not impressed, but the beer is definitely enjoyable. Would recommend for hopheads (not just IPA-drinkers, people who love IPAs above all else). Doing research for a new homebrew recipe, and I may keep the same kind of bittering hops as Total Domination, but with a bit less, and do something way more aromatic to balance it. We'll see!
