Bomber purchased from a Fred Meyer in Pocatello, Idaho on the way back from a trip to Yellowstone. In a cold case, come on Utah, are you going to let Pocatello show us up? Who am I kidding, the Utah legislature does not read beeradvocate reviews before they purchase beer. This beer was poured into my beer goblet.

Appearance: A slightly hazy golden with a long lasting one fingered sandy head. Looks fine. Leaves nice lacing.

Smell: Does not smell exactly like a fresh DIPA. Crystal malts and a touch of honey more than hop flavors. The hops smell like a pine forest with a touch of citrus grove thrown in.

Taste: The label says that this has 100 IBUs, I am searching for about 70 of them. without the label, I would not have guessed DIPA. I would have said IPA. The malts are a touch sweet up front with a good flavor. The sweetness gives way to a light lingering bitterness on the tongue. 8.8 ABV is well hidden. Hints of tangerine and grapefruit. With this bottle, I am underwhelmed. It is tasty, but seems way off for the style.

Mouthfeel: Slick and medium to full. Carbonation is medium low. Flavors spread easily over the mouth.

Overall: I am confused with this one. So little hops aroma or blatant hops taste. Maybe I have become jaded and cannot taste anything under 50 % cold pressed extra virgin hop extract, but I do not think so. An odd duck, which I do not think represents the style.

No Ninkasi on the East Coast, pumped to find this fresh in a deli in San Diego, bottle reviewed in hotel.

A- From the bomber pours a honey orange brew with some haziness from the yeast in solution. A snow white cap forms to about a finger with pretty good retention. Plentiful lace builds quickly and spotty lace follows on the lower portion of the glass.

S- Hops are prominent with a bit of caramel malts in the backdrop. The cones leave notes of grapefruit, peach, citrus zest, flowers and pine. Bright and inviting.

T- Hop highlights from the aroma are carried into the taste nicely. Dank citrus and pine with tropical fruits and floral hop notes. Just enough caramel and yeast hints to compliment but not quite balance the dominant hops. Grapefruit, orange, clementine, peach, onion, sweetness and pineapple come to mind.

MF- Creamy moderately thick bodied. Carbonation at a medium high level. Finishes on the palate with good hop bitterness. Creamy texture helps support the hoppy flavors.

For almost 9% the focus is certainly on the hops and it comes off clean. Big citrus and fruity flavors satisfy the style and it is a good intro to Ninkasi.

22oz bottle served in pint glass. Beer pours a honey amber color, quite hazy, with very little head. Big grapefruit hop aroma, and I detect that this is going to be a malty, heavy one. Mmm mmm.

Flavor is big hop IPA all the way through. Fairly well balanced, as it needs to be at 100 IBUs and 8.8% ABV, but bitterness takes it just over the edge. Not outstanding, but still a really good big citrusy IPA that's quite enjoyable when that's what you're looking for.

A - Opaque brushed copper body. Cream, bone-white head. Nice lace and ok retention.

S - Caramel malt, touch of orange citrus, green bitters.

T - Malt forward profile. Caramel, bread crust, malt powder. Green plant stem bitters through the finish.

M - Medium body up front, but ends a little thin.

O - The bitterness is raw and feels a little disconnected from the slightly overly sweet body.

bomber to a snifter for a better smell. No freshness date

Pours a vibrant golden orange with a half finger of foam. Yeast chunks floating around, strong carbonation stemming from the center. lacing is meh

Smell of tropical and citrus hops, rich caramel malt, and a nice touch of alcohol. Very strong on the fruits, a little sweetness coming from them. A little too fruity for me, but it comes together pretty well in the end

Taste is with the nose, strong tropical and citrus hops are immediately up front. Nice strong bready caramel malts follow and finishes with a bit of alcohol

Feel is a medium body with a wet finish. Nice mixture of sweet and bitterness, alcohol concealed well also. Easy to drink, no problems finishing the bottle

Overall a solid offering exploring the more fruity side of an ipa as opposed to a piney and grape fruity one. Sort of in the same vein as Fresh Squeezed or Hop Henge. Really great buy for $4.99, wish these were in Nevada
