650ml bomber poured into tulip 18/11/14

A clear light copper, lots of bubbles sticking to the side and several streams of slow bubbles feed a short lived finger of foam that leaves some polka dot lace

S orange, grapefruit, tangerine, lemon and lime, plenty of citrus, some pine wine gums, and a little sweet malt

T rindy compared to the nose, more pine, caramel, and a hint of booze, solid but I preferred the nose

M silky upon entry and slowly creams up, a little slick on the palate with faint heat going down, rind lingers

O pretty solid DIPA, nothing crazy complex or unique but easy enough to drink and not really lacking in any area

nothing to really set it apart but no reason not try it either, nearly 10$ bucks for a bomber I'm not sure if I'd buy a second though

Poured a clear amber red body with a half finger white bubbly head. Fairly nice looking, a pretty DIPA. Scents of grassy hops, orange peel, grapefruit peel, fresh pine resin, some light malty sweetness, light alcohol and earthy, vegetal hops and not much else. Overall impression of aroma is of a rather simple, bit very nice DIPA aroma. It is crisp, citrusy, piney and clean, with a certain freshness too it. Bolder than the Total Domination, but not overwhelming. It is quite nice. Flavor begins moderately bitter with notes of orange flesh, orange zest, a sweet malt backbone and a light pine resin. This moves into a medium-high bitter middle with notes of all the above flavors, with pine resin becoming more prominent and grassy hops appearing at a moderate level alongside light alcohol. Finish is dry with a strong presence of grapefruit and orange peel, a medium-high character of pine resin and grassy hops and a light malt backbone and alcohol presence. Aftertaste is orange zest and flesh, sweet malt and light alcohol with a very light pine resin. Overall impression of flavor is of a nice, clean hop-forward beer that is pleasant, but lacking in the full depth and boldness of other examples. Not as bitter and bold as Stone's offerings, which is actually nice, but lacking the depth of a Hoptimum or some other good examples of the style. Still not bad and quite drinkable. Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation and a resinous feel with a smooth, slick finish. Overall impression mouthfeel is of a good DIPA that is true to style. Overall this is a good DIPA. It is well hopped, flavorful and balanced, though not the most bold or complex in either aroma or flavor. It cannot compete with the best, but it is good and well worth trying. A nice DIPA for a beginner for sure.
