Big, bold in your face double IPA. Superb hop aroma ranging from piney/resiny to citrusy and tropical fruit. The hops are supported by a big, complex malt body that balances out the 100 IBUs extremely well.

Glad I tried this one. Has a nice solid, not too heavy, not too light mouthfeel. There is as some others have noted a significant malt presence that provides an excellent backdrop to the strong and very nice grapefruit, grapefruit peel, and bitter hoppiness. Beautiful long lasting three finger cream colored head and nice dark amber color to the beer. Will definitely be buying this again if and when available.

A - Clear gold with two fingers of foamy densy white head, lots of suspended yeast in here.
S - Lots of sweet orange and tangerine, bread, some pine, pineapple, pear.
T - Malt is slightly sweet but not ovebearing, lots of orange and some tropical notes, bitter earthy pine.
M - Full bodied yet not chewy or sticky.
O - Solid Double IPA

Look: Three fingers of off white creamy head dissipates pretty slowly leaving pretty lacing. Hazy copper in color and floaty sediment.

Smell: Oily orange citrus hops.

Taste: Pretty well balanced. Was expecting a bit more hoppy bitterness. Fruity malts and a slightly bitter finish. Masks the alcohol very well.

Feel: Kinda syrupy. Sticky sweet.

Overall: Pretty ok. Doesn't feel like a double neccisarily but is still a killer IPA. At $12 for a four pack, there are others I enjoy much more. Dirtwolf comes to mind. Certainly worth a shot but I don't know that I'll be returning.

Big, bitter, classic CCC hops flavor profile. This is a reasonably big beer (8%), but not a monster. However, those 100 IBUs really come through in the finish. Basically, a quality uber-hopped IPA, but not a lot to differentiate in terms of a unique profile.

A very nice Double IPA,pours a dark amber with a thin off white head that lasts and one of the best lacing i have seen on a IPA.Wonderful pine and a woody taste. Perfect balance malt to hops.

Dark reddish gold color, not much smell at all. Fine carbonation, light mouthfeel. Smooth well balanced flavor with apple, some tropical notes, musty bitter finish. No single stand out flavor profile. Overall great tasting.

Golden color, decent head , medium thin sticky lace.
Fruity and marmalade nose. Further along I detect more biscuity, bread and malt aroma. Some pear also.
Light feel in the mouth for a DIPA, medium bodied overall. Soft carbonation. Initial taste is grapefruit like. Very hop heavy as they take over. There is, however, a strong malt backbone. Dry resin hops and bitter grapefruit finish. Very drinkable. I liked it a lot.

L: Pours hazy gold to amber under a 2” clingy white head with a fine bead.
S: Resiny piney hops, biscuit, light fruit on the nose
T: Starts creamy and has a little malt sweetness and some pear, slight orange. Long lingering bitterness with a biscuity, fruity sweetness – almost like a jam or marmalade.
F: very creamy and smooth, medium to medium full body, medium carbonation, slight warming.
O: A big well balanced beer.

-spiegelau ipa glass.

A: Dark orange medium haze, with a rapid rate of effervesce. Thick and frothy light beige head is one inch and steady on the hold. Thick sheet coating of lace has a good coverage rate.

S: Citrusy sweet malt aroma, fresh pine juice, settles to a light pine dry hop finish. Lightly dry flowery citrus grind with a decent awareness and average retention.

T: Flavor was sharp wet with citrusy-grapefruit mingling against a sweetly toasted malt backing. Dry grapefruit flower hops follow up with a touch of toasted tropical fruitiness, piney cream hops. Dry bittering finish with a good dose of knock-out hops, bittering, good strength, nice lingering duration.

M: Mouthful leans towards the lighter side of medium, warming hop juice of citrusy-pine with some toasted malt on the inner cheeks provides a nice feel.

O: Overall nice balance of malt and hops, reminds me of a dfh 90 how it drinks and in terms of balance, warming hop juiciness, floral hops, and abv. Warming citrusy-pine juice is soothing making for an enjoyable drink.

Pours a clear, copper color. 1/2 inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of citrus hops, resin, hint of pine, sweet malt, slight alcohol, hint of wood, and a hint of dark citrus. Fits the style of an American Double / Imperial IPA. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp, with an average carbonation level. There is a noticeable bitterness. Tastes of alcohol, resin, hops, slight liquor, hint of wood, sweet malt, and slight citrus hops. Overall, good appearance, good aroma, good complexity, blend is off though which hurts the body.

This is a good brew but not great- i'll certainly drink it but would not seek it out were there better alternatives. Definitely a good amount of bitterness, medium amount of sweetness. No really interesting hop flavors- just some pineapple and a little earthiness. Like a better version of SN Torpedo.

Super hoppy. After 2 or 4 you aren't overwhelmed by the hoppiness. Great beer though. Alcohol content is pretty high and that is good because after 4 or 5 you are pretty much just spitting out pine trees.

Poured all cellar temperature-like into my tulip. About time, really.

The first thing you need to know is that this is a very pretty IPA. I mean seriously pretty. Radiant orange, rocky, long-lasting, just off-white head, and glamorous lacing. A real looker.

It smells of fragrant pine, hops of the dank, herbal variety I swear I get a little basil and oregano, but I WAS making pizza sauce a half-hour ago), and orange. Bit of honey. A zesty aroma. Yes, that's the word.

Oh, okay. so that's how it is. The flavor just somewhat exploded on my palate. I wasn't quite prepared for that. This tastes like the result of squeezing fresh oranges, lemons, and grapefruit, and then mixing that citrus juice with pure pine needle extract. It's the bread and butter of IPAs: citrus and pine, but turned up to an extravagant level. Not to mention the lovely bready finish with a lingering balance of astringency and malts.

Love the feel. It's got substance, and substantial carbonation, but at the same time a certain softness.

An wonderful example of an ale that proves you don't need a bunch of ridiculously nuanced complexities to be great (don't get me wrong - I like complexity, too). But this is just unabashed, unashamed, IPA deliverance. And it wooks pwerty. :B

A-hazy orange with a fingers worth of white head that disappears quickly

S-tropical fruits, grapefruit, light caramel

T-more citrus than in the smell, with some pine, and still has the tropical fruit sweetness

M-medium body, moderate carbonation

Overall nice tropical fruits and citrus with decent amount of pine hops

Ninkasi, low in my eyes, yet, I find myself "tipping my hat" to this beautiful brew. pouring classic deep yellow IPA rising to a perfect head off white. let the aromatics talk to you, smell, and really breath deep, underneath the hops the smooth nose leave you wanting more. The taste is surprisingly balanced, bitter for the hop lover and balanced for the casual drinker, this is definitely a "go to"

A: golden ale, clear; coupla fingers of ivory head left laces down the glass

S: chewy biscuit malts drenched with honey, powerful citrus and pine medley, floral and resinous at the same time

T: sweet caramel malts and fresh, chewy grains underscoring a massive hop profile that is both pithy and resinous at the same time - dank, but with bright citric pith-points

M: medium-weight and soft on the tongue, bittering subtly throughout; smooth, great aftertaste

O: worthy of its ratings and rank - delicious and potent, full of bitterness, fresh grain malts and moderate sugars - top-notch DIPA that drinks like s DIPA but without being too heavy or strong. Get some.

12 ounce bottle, no bottling date that I could find. Served in a DFH IPA glass, the beer pours a slightly hazy orange/amber color with about an inch off-white head that stayed around for a little while. There's also a good amount of lacing. The brew smells like citrusy (tropical fruit, candied oranges) and piney hops, and some bready and caramel malt. Taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but there's also some grapefruit and melon noticeable. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's creamy and coating with a moderate amount of carbonation. This was given to me from one of my friends, nice of him to give me a bottle! It's worth picking up if you've never had it before, glad I got to try it.

Great balance of bitterness and sweet maltiness. Not as juicy and dank as I like but still a top brew. More prominent malt backbone to the hop bitterness than my favorites. Glad I brought this back to Ohio when I was in Arizona a few weeks ago. If I go out west again soon I would snag this again.

A slightly hazy orange gold with a thick head that took awhile to become extinct, leaving a curtain of lacing.
Citrus pine on the nose followed by the same on the palate, like sweet onion. Nice caramel backbone. Slight bitter finish.
I've been enjoying this one for just over two years. A solid go-to DIPA.

12 oz bottle poured into a pub-style pint glass.

Deep amber with 1 finger of white head that dissipates quickly. Slightly hazy.

Honey, candied grapefruit, papaya, and melon.

Honey, toffee, honeydew melon, and papaya rind. Bitter grapefruit pith and earthy florals.

Medium bodied, crisp, and oily. Medium carbonation with a medium-high bitterness.

Firm malt backbone with ample bitterness.

Nothing amazing going on here. As such, it has negatively impacted my enthusiasm for a detailed review. Worth trying, but with the market being inundated with myriad IPAs, this does nothing to separate itself. It merely establishes itself. In a blind tasting, I would assert its style, but not its superiority. It's lacking the waves and layers of hops that are featured in some of today's aggressive, lean forward IPAs. Too thin, and certainly not enough body for an 8.0 ABV. The industry is catching up; former staples are paying the price.

12oz bottle: This one pours a hazy dark golden color. There was about a finger of a light tan head on it. Nice nose. Not overly hoppy, pine and floral with some malts in the background. Some lacing. The taste is good. Fairly bitter with some malt sweetness in the background. Some orange and grapefruit flavors. Good malt body. Well balanced. A keeper
