Pours a beautiful black with a head roughly the colour of latte foam. Beautiful.

The nose is primarily roasty burnt malts with a bit of espresso, some musty oats.

The taste follows the nose, roasty and warm. Smoothe oats, and a little bit of hop bittering to balance it out. A very well executed and nicely balanced oatmeal stout. I am a very big fan of this one.

Poured near jet black except for some ruby highlights when held in the light,a creamy toasted almond colored head atop.Heavy roast in the nose along with faint smoke and wood, light bitter chocolate shows thru just a little.Roasty and raw on the palate, very dry with faint smoke in the finish, just a very light chocolate sweetness. This is one no holds barred hoppy stout, its big and roasty,I liked it.

One of the finer Oat meal stouts I've had. All flavor nodes well balanced, and an extremely drinkable mix. Bought a bottle of this the very next day to add to my collection. Ninkasi is one of those breweries to keep your eye on. Have some GREAT beers out right now.

recieved in the noob bif thanks to mizzouguy!

22oz bomber at fridge temp poured into a pint glass. split with friends.

pours out pretty much black with a very nice thick tan/ light mocha colored head slightly darker on the edges. great retention and lots of sticky webby lace. looks great!

dark roasted malt, burnt, cocoa, bits of dark chocolate and dark fruits.

dark burnt roasted malts, cocoa, dark fruits, a little dark chocolate. finishes with a little creamy oatmeal and pretty substantial bitterness for the style. a nice dark fruity chocolate taste lingers with the bitterness.

mouthfeel is a bit off, too much carbonation which makes it feel a bit thin. maybe not as creamy as most oatmeal stouts.

definatly an enjoyable beer, if this was local to me, i could see drinking this again.

Oh my god! this is the best beer I ever tasted. Chocolate and coffee notes give way to ab absolutely heavy mouthfeel. Very little bitterness. This is what I drink every day, I accept no substitute. I always pour it a little fast so the tan head is nice and thick. There is nothing light and watery about this beer!

The first words that come to mind upon taking a sniff and a sip of Oatis are "milk chocolate truffle" and "malt-tastic", respectively. But this delightful beer's not all sweetness--they made sure to add a little hoppy bite to balance everything out. Aesthetically, Oatis is a dream--It looks and feels like cold carbonated molasses. Rock on, Ninkasi, rock on.

Appearance - Dark brown, bordering on engine oil. Foamy tan 2-finger head, little lacing.

Smell - A malty, heady oatmeal stout which warms you up just by the smell! Notes of rust, soy sauce (?), yeast.

Taste - This is a strong beer, even for a stout (7% ABV) and the alcohol comes through just a little too much. Hearty tasting stout with traces of iron. Notes of burnt chocolate and ash, winter once again.

Mouthfeel - The highlight of this tasting... chewy, oily, truly a unique feel for every sip. The heavy taste is betrayed by this complex feel.

Drinkability - Not a session beer, but one to try again on a cool eve. Stout fans should definitely give it a shot.

A - Perfect Dark. Poured with some creamy looking head.

S - Good Oatmeal stout freshness.

T - Some sweetness at the start followed by bitterness and dark oatmeal.

M - A bit too much bite and carbonation for me but maybe I've been drinking too many aged stouts to be a good judge.

O - A quality choice in the Oatmeal Stout world. Good flavor.

A: Pours a deep brown, practically black with a short, but thick brown head that maintained form for a good bit. Sporadic lacing forms on the glass.

S: A decent aroma, not really oaty as one might expect. Some chocolate, faint roasted malt and a little bit of piney hops.

T: Lots of chocolate on the flavor profile with a little bit of roast and faint pine, which starts to disappear a bit as it warms The oats come through as I let the beer sit a bit. Has a rather bitter finish.

M: Light to medium bodied, a little on the thin side with medium carbonation.

O: A decent oatmeal stout, I think i will stick to the hoppier Ninkasi beers though.
