Truncated impressions below (full review to follow):

A: 1 finger wide head retains for 5 minutes.

Opaque solid black body.

Looks good overall, but it's not unique or special.

Sm: Oats are definitely dominant, lending it a palpable starchiness. Has your usual dark and chocolate malts as well. Cream.

T: Great balance, with heavy oats filling out the body nicely. Dark malts and chocolate malts comprise the crowd-pleasing body. A note of cream.

Mf: Smooth and wet in classic oatmeal stout fashion, with an apt medium body and moderate thickness. Nicely creamy. Well-carbonated, if slightly overdone. Good overall presence on the palate.

Ov: A drinkable crowd-pleaser from Ninkasi, this oatmeal stout overcommits to the oats whilst forgetting to bolster the flavour profile with more intricacy; I could use some milk chocolate, roasty coffee, vanilla...just something to make it stand out. Still, it's a solid go-to and won't disappoint.

12 oz. Bottle

Pours a nice dark brown color, with a light tan creamy/fizzy head, which left not much sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty with some nice chocolate, toffee, slight coffee note, and some vanilla. The taste is very nice sweet, malty, with some dark stuff thrown in, nice little vanilla note. Medium body, with a slight dry/bitter finish, ABV is hidden pretty well also. Overall a very nice oatmeal stout, would buy again, nice to see Ninkasi in UT.

A - Very dark brown with a smallish but persistent head. Good lacing.

S - Roasted malt, maybe some caramel, cocoa.

T - More bitter than many stouts I've tried, but not unpleasantly so. Character didn't change much as it warmed; interesting mix of coffee, cocoa and a bit of vanilla.

M - Medium body; smooth and easy to drink.

D - Not a bad stout; I prefer beers that are a bit sweeter, but this one didn't overwhelm me with bitterness. Overall, a good offering that I would partake of again given the opportunity. Would like to try Ninkasi's vanilla version of this brew someday.
