Oatmeal Stout |  7.20% ABV

Availability: Rotating

Notes/Commercial Description:
A delicious oatmeal stout with just enough hops to balance the copious quantities of dark roasted malts, oatmeal for a creamy smooth drinkability, and whole vanilla beans for a rich complexity. To achieve this higher level of decadence, we added in whole vanilla beans to the final stage of fermentation - the same process we use to dry hop a beer.

A: Dark brown with a little light shining through. Goopy light tan head with moderate retention.
S: Intial smell is very sweet and heavy on vanilla. A little roasted and black malt peeks through followed by some oatmeal mustiness.
T: as in the aroma, starts off sweet, with lots of vanilla. Flavor turns bitter with some coffee and a little Hershey’s chocolate syrup. Finish is short, roasted and on the dry side. Very nice vanilla flavor.
M: Medium-bodied for the style with heavy carbonation. I prefer a beer this big with oatmeal to be a bit smoother.

Would love to have access to this out here in MN. $4 for 22 oz of this stuff beats most anything comparable in this market.

A: Pretty typical here for a stout, black, with a nice little mocha colored head that goes quickly, solid appearance

S: Very simple here, vanilla, chocolate, and oats, but it smells really good!

T: WOAH! This is excessively hopped with bittering hops! Besides the bitterness, the taste follows the smell exactly. If this beer wasn’t so bitter it would have an immense amount of potential to be very good.

M: Very light, leaves your mouth dry, very uncharacteristic like of a stout

O: Needs less bittering hops, the bitterness makes it harsh and almost undrinkable.

A - Nice Dark appearance. Thick and smooth when poured in the glass.

S - Hoppy smell, but can definitely sense the caramelly vanilla flavor advertised.

T - Delicious.

M - Very nice going down. A little bitter, but very nice sensations.

O - One of my favorite beers ever.

Ap - Clean, filtered black. Fluffy, dense, khaki head that settles to a thin film and leaves great lacing.

Ar - Vanilla, raisin. Subtle bitter chocolate.

T - Similar to the nose. Raisin is subdued, bitter chocolate takes its place.

M - Creamy, medium bodied. Smooth and a touch dry.
