Full disclaimer ahead of time. I have a special place in my heart for ninkasi.. Their support of mnt. Bike Or won me over.
Look- black as can be. Very little head and it was gone within seconds. No activity. I mean like not one bubble.
Smell not there. No activity so that didn't bring any smell to the top.
Taste- slight bitter with a little sour and coffee. Burnt coffee. Little chile bite on it as well which I didn't expect.
Feel. Odd feeling of spice.
Overall. Not for me. I won't finish this 12 oz bottle.

12oz bottle, tulip snifter.
Pours black with a light brown head that dissipates fairly quickly.
The aroma is a subtle blend of roast malt and some bitter cocoa.
Roast malts, bitter cocoa and bitter coffee.
A light to medium body with average carbonation.
An okay porter, the bitterness from the coffee in the finish was a bit more than I would have liked, but nothing overly unpleasant.

Poured from bottle into shaker.
Three fingers off white head. Very dark color.
Strong rich robust smell. Coffee overpowers the nose.
Taste is a lot lighter than expected. Coffee bitterness and a bit tart.
Decent, but nothing special. Maybe I'm not a huge fan of Ninkasi

22oz bottle poured into a Pint glass.
A - Pours a dark brown with a small thin tan head. Ok retention, but fades fairly quickly.
S - Roasted malts, chocolate, bitter coffee.
T - Mostly bitter coffee and old chocolate.
D - Very, very thin. Decent carbonation.
O - Ok, so thin, that it distracted me from the rest of the beer.

I bought a six-pack of Ninkasi Renewale 2012 in a grocery store just before New Years. $7.99
Pours a jet black opaque color. There is a small thin bubbly beige head.
Smell is a roasted coffee aroma. Not much sweetness at all in the nose.
Taste is a bitter charcoal and string black coffee flavor.
Mouthfeel is fairly light for the style, with a dry bitter aftertaste.
A drinkable porter, but not a great one.
Happy New Year.

I recently received 2 six-packs of this as a bonus from one of my employers (and friends), Thank You again Janet! Poured into straight pint glass. Poured a fairly typical Deep brown/light black color with about 1/2 inch of tan head that had low retention and moderately good lacing.
The aroma was very nice, full of good roasty notes on top of solid grains. There were just enough hops to provide a bit tasty balance. The flavor profile was very similar, with the roast being a bit more pronounced and the hops a bit less noticeable.
The body was very thin for the style (honestly, I wanted to dock it even more, but I enjoyed the beer enough overall that I couldn't), it might have been a bit thin for a Brown. Drinkability was very good, the bottles I've had have gone down smooth and easy on a consistent basis. Overall, a very nice beer, one that is certainly worth trying if you see it, and perhaps a bit of effort to obtain.

Dark brown, thin tan head and poor retention. Roasted and chocolate balanced aroma. Flavor is balanced as well with a strong roasted/coffee flavor up front that mellows to a light herbal finish. A biting, thin feel.
A moderate roasted linger that’s much easier drinking than most since it’s not too heavy. The nice herbal finish gets lost halfway through but an all-around decent beer although the mouthfeel could be a little better.

I do love me some dark porters. Pours black with the thinnest of dark brown around the edges, even when held up to a light. Head is minimal, tan, and sits up top for a minute, and then is gone before you know it.
Lots of roasty notes. Some coffee and bittersweet chocolate, even some smoke.
Tastes more like a stout. It's got the roasted thing down. Very malty, mostly malty; smoke, hops and coffee in the finish.
Creamy. A bit more bitter than I want in a porter. Full-bodied.
I had high expectations for this beer, so I was slightly disappointed that it was only slightly above average. I think this would be better categorized as a stout and I'd have probably given higher marks. Not a bad beer, just not great for the style.

22oz bomber. Served in a goblet.
Pours an almost complete black, a tinge of light gets through. A two finger pillowy beige head forms and settles to a small covering. Some delicate lacing left in glass.
Aroma is properly roasted malt with a floral hop backing, a little spicy. Some sweetness mixed in as well.
Flavor is roasty, bitter, with semi-sweet bakers chocolate. Some mineral notes in the middle and finish. There is a metallic note to the bitterness in the finish. Maybe a little alcohol sneaking through.
Medium-light bodied with medium-sharp carbonation. Slight creaminess.
