I love Hiromatsu! First of all, the staff are amazing. They're friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and extremely polite in that uniquely Japanese apologetic way. Two weeks ago, I mistakenly bought a couple of expired bottles of ale there - a Pepper Draft (from 2004!) and a Soba no Mi. When I went back to see if I could exchange them, they were incredibly nice about it and happily replaced the Soba no Mi; apparently they had no fresh bottles of the Pepper Draft, so they gave me a (more expensive) 500 ml bottle of Oberdorfer Weissbier instead! Plus, this week I spent over 5000 yen there, and they gave me a free can of Echigo Pilsener and a 100 ml bottle of shochu. Definitely the best service I have ever received at any liquor store anywhere.

Now then, the selection: fantastic, and not just for Japan. Suginoya, Nihon Brewing, Echigo, Negra Modelo, Floris, Chimay, Achel, Orval, Young's, Sam Smith's, Sam Adam's, Lindeman's, Mort Subite, Oberdorfer, Hoegaarden, Kronenbourg, and a whole bunch more that I can't remember occupy a nice, shaded cooler towards the back of the store and an additional aisle towards the middle. Really, a very exciting selection, well-stored, well-chosen, and sold at very good prices.

They also offer a decent selection of imported cheeses, sold for slightly less than you'd find them at department stores. Hiromatsu is simply a joy to visit. Highly recommended if you're in the Kitakyushu area.

Oh... and did I mention they carry Utopias?! Only 17,000 yen.

Edit: A few weeks ago I asked them if they could order some Kiuchi products, and guess what? Now they stock their entire line! Awesome!
