This pours super hazy with a nice head (that is somewhat coarse) and floaties. for some reason I like the little chunks of junk floating around in there, it gives it character.

This tastes nice and refreshing, with more body and flavor than a typical witbier. Thank you, Barley Island. It has a bit of a malty flavor, balanced with a very dryness in the hop. Nice other flavors like... nutmeg???

Mouthfeel is very coarse, but it works well.

Finish is nice and clean, like a typical beer but very dry and sparkley which cleans the palette and leaves a clean (read: no) aftertaste.

I do recommend this beer. Even if you don't like the style (as I don't), give this a whirl.

This is a very hazy and fairly light, dirty-yellow witbeer with very little head. Smells are lemonpepper and musty clove. Taste is very nice. Starts out with astringent citrus flavor, some metallic hop bitter, and closes with spice that serves to darken the taste and plays well against the creeping acidity. Orange flavor is very hidden till the end, and that subtlety is welcome. Mouthfeel stings a bit because of the high effervescence and acidity combined. As things get a little warmer and flatter, this beer really gets much nicer. That metallic bitter is mostly gone, the spices become a little more complex, and the whole backend is cradled by a warm soft orange. Awesomely tastey tart aftertaste. Mouthfeel becomes way nicer. Definately let this one sit abit and you'll enjoy it more.

4 oz draft serving at brewpub. Pours a pale yellow with a small head. Aroma is very mild wheat and barely detectable citrus and spices. Taste is below average generic wheat. Very generic wheat beer flavor. Mouthfeel is a little on the thin side for a wheat. Not anything I would like to drink on a regular basis.

Nice looking, hazy pale yellow body with a small, but sturdy, white head. Some sheet lacing is left on the glass. Aroma is coriander, yeasty bread dough, banana and lemon. Light bodied and well carbonated. Taste is sweet orange and creamy banana with a hint of lemon. Overly spicy, with orange peel and coriander dominant. A bit pretentious, but a worthy effort and quite enjoyable.

Received from a Indiana craft beer sampler pack Thanks seth curtis.

Pour a very cloudy yellow and highly carbonated.. Head of egg whites that reduced slowly and left lacing clinging.. The aroma was very potent of banana and orange peel and coriander..
Taste was very good, but the mouth feel was the only thing that was not par with the rest.. Overall A very good beer for the style..

(Served in an American pint glass)

A- This beer has a lemon yellow body with a very slight haze has a good carbonation of big bubbles. There is a creamy snow white pure head that last a good bit then fades to a thick ring.

S- The big smell of yeasty wheat bread starter with a smooth but bright note of clove and some softer banana notes. As the beer warms there are notes of lemon.

T- This beer has a light taste of white wheat bread with a spicy note and bananas in cream hint. As the beer warms there is a taste of light club soda and red apples.

M- This beer has a medium-full mouthfeel with a creamy texture.

D- This beer has some nice flavors and good complexity and is really a much better sample of this style than most American made Blondes. The wheat has a good presents and the cloves have a nice fresh ground flavor instead of the “back of your grandma’s spice rack” taste. The banana note is soft but adds another layer of complexity without overpowering the other flavors.

A - Cloudy gold brew with a nice two finger white head and a decent amount of lace left on the glass.

S - Dusty yeast, lemon zest, clove, and orange blossom. Crisp and summer in the nose....I like it! Also, this is very true to the Belgian Wit style....I might have mistaken this for Hoegaarden in a smell-off.

T - Tangy lemon rind, white pepper, sweet mandarin orange juice, with some twangy wheat flavors. Peppery and subtly dark behind the summery lemon rind flavors. Much more complex than I thought it would be...I was expecting an "American wheat beer" wit knock-off, but this is very true to the Wit style...major props to Barley Island (which I keep spelling "barely island")!

M - Twangy, thirst quenching, tart, and sharp. Light in body, but hard and crisp on the palate. An excellent summer brew!

D - Outstandingly thirst quenching after a hot day of geocaching! This is a very nice Belgian-style Wit!

This over-carbonated Belgian-style wheat beer almost overflowed the glass at first, but that's a minor complaint. Anyhow, the thick, massive white foam quickly dissipated into a pale, cloudy gold. No lace here.

Nose is spicy, with a little hint of citrus. Nothing spectacular, but not bad.

Upon initial tasting, I get a blast of sweet -- actually overpowering the wheat up front. Finishes with some wheat, yeast, and lemon hints. Not bad, but overall pretty average.

Most carbonated beverage I've ever seen. The bottle cap practically popped itself and before I had less than an ounce of beer in the glass, the head was overflowing. Seriously. I've never seen anything so ridiculous.

When all is said and done, it looks the part of a wit. Lemonade yellow, cloudy, and bubbles forming non-stop from the bottom. As mentioned, the head is really over the top. Bright white, bubbles of all shapes and sizes, major retention and an agent orange sticky lace.

Scents of straw, cut grass, spices, honey and citrus fruits emanate from the head.

Tastes like a hybrid. It's got some wit characteristics, but also tastes like a shandy. A lot of lemon and wheat, and lots of carbonation.

While the feel was ok with me, it's a bit carbonated for a wit, which I normally associate with having a smooth wheat feel. This has a bit from the carbonation and citrus from beginning to end. Very acidic. Medium bodied. Some spice. Not much from the hops.

If you can get past the ridiculous head and carbonation, it's a really good beer, that's easy to drink (once the head falls) and has only moderate alcohol so you can enjoy lots of them.

Whoa.

The smell is corriander and orange peel with notes of wheat spiciness.

While the tastes by-and-large follows the smell, it is rather watery and thin. Also, there is an unwelcome soapy-ness coupled with an unwelcome bitter end.

Strange, strange brew.

I found this single 12oz brown bottle at the Binny's in Glen Ellyn, IL for $1.59. No freshness date on the bottle, but as this is a spring/summer brew and I am buying this in January, I assume this bottle is a leftover from last year's batch.

The beer poured a cloudy pear yellow color and made a 1-finger white head that dissipated rather quickly and left no lacing.

The smell was really fruity. Banana, lemon, and orange smells dominated the wheat and coriander spice smells that were also present.

Fruit also dominates the taste. Lemony/orange flavors mix with Belgian yeast and wheat flavors, with a nice dose of coriander spice as well. There is even a faint hop bitterness in the finish, but fruit flavor remains dominant throughout.

This beer has a nice light to medium bodoed mouthfeel to it with plenty of carbonation to keep it crisp and refreshing.

This was a really nice wit. I wish I had a fresher bottle to see how much better this could have been, but as is, I could down a bunch of these. The low 5.0% abv would make this a very sessionable beer.

Bottle. Pours a rather hazy golden color with a moderate white head on it. Nose has a decent amount of wheat in there with a moderate amount of coriander and spice. Taste has a little bit of citrus to it, but with a sweet finish to it that was unexpected. OK.

Acquired via trade from jpm30, so a big “Thank you” goes out to him. Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a very light yellow color with a medium foamy white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick and even lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is very faint but is mostly of Belgian yeast & wheat with a little bit of spice and a touch of hops.

T: The taste is very bready and just like the smell, it mostly consists of Belgian yeast and wheat. There are very mild flavors of spice & lemon in the background. The malt character is thin but slightly heavier that most beers in the style. The hops presence is very mild. The after-taste is slightly bready.

M: Smooth and crisp, medium body, medium-to-heavy carbonation, clean finish.

D: A little tasty but only if you’re not looking for a lot of flavor, goes down easily, not too filling, decent representation of style, it’s not a bad beer, but there are several more flavorful beers within the style that I would choose first.

This beer was all head! I have never seen one like it. One time I got an Upland amber that was pretty foamy, but this is ridiculous! I took a picture after pouring (and yes I poured it slowly like I would any beer), and the whole glass is foam. Definitely a visible lattice (only 4 and a half inches tall). Once the foam subsided I was left with a nicely colored white yellow beer, almost like lemonade. Weird. The taste is so-so. It is pretty carbonated and I think it helps for this brew. Hops aroma and taste evident, but not much malt. I would not buy a six-pack of this!

12oz bottle obtained via trade with Lewis13 from RB. Thanks for the opportunity...

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 1/4" white head over the slightly dark golden brew. Head quickly falls to an uneven layer of bubbles, with average to low lacing. Aroma is wheat and tart, both as expected for the style. Taste is ample wheat character upfront, some tart bitterness in the middle, and a lingering clove close. Mouthfeel is creamy smooth, and drinkability is good as well, but the clove does start to get a bit overpowering.

This looked like your standard wit, cloudy and pale.

Aroma was sub-par for the style, I barely detected any of the characteristic citrus or spicey notes.

Taste was bland. Again, not characteristic of a wit at all, in my experience. It was as plain as a mid-quality American wheat.

Mouthfeel was thin, without the robust carbonation typical of the style.

Despite all of that, the drinkability was high for this beer, if you're looking for a lawnmower beer, or something to ease a macro-drinker into craft brews with. It wasn't *bad,* it just wasn't a good example of a wit.

Poured to a hazy golden color with thick white head that diminished quickly, and good lacing. Strong wheat aroma, but the flavor was dominated by spices, mostly corriander, clove and cinnamon. Actually much better than I expected, and the spices left a good finish. The spices may become overwhelming if drinking several of these at once, but a very good tasting beer for sipping.

Appearance - hazy lemon yellow. Quite a layer of sediment in the bottle, I'm happy to let is stay there. A spritzy white cap bubbles down to a thin layer quickly but has some good hold.

Aroma - some grain, yeast, and pleasant spicing. Smells like a Belgian wheat at first, but as it warms up it smells a lot like gunpowder, like at July 4th. Weird but I kinda like it.

Taste - doughy, wheaty, some good floral/citrus. A light sourness on the swallow and more of the citrus coming through. Ends flowery, some fading citrus.

Mouthfeel - very bubbly, a noticeable bit of smoothness. A bit lighter than average.

Drinkability - a refreshing wheat, I like.

Bottle poured into pint glass.

A: Nice hazy orange/gold with a good size soft head that dissipated quickly. Lots of carbonated action.

S: Spices (coriander, nutmeg) and wheat outweigh the citrus.

T: Started out ever so slightly bitter but finished with some good citrus and wheat.

M: Very light. Suprisingly the carbonation action I saw didn't play as strong as I thought it would.

D: Good and light. Easy to drink.
