Thanks to a kindly BA for dropping this extra into a fine trade that recently came to fruition. Both a new beer & a new brewery for me.
Pours the color of a classic forest fire seen through the lens of a good photographer. Touch of haze, too, even leaving a bit of muck in the bottom of the bottle. Smell is malty for an IPA.
Not sure Barfly can rightly be called an IPA by even stretching the definition of the style. Reminds me, unpleasantly, of Flat Tire. High quotient of breadiness, a bit of metallic tang, with only a hint of hop bittering at the end, & not enough to clean up the mess in aisle four. The bread shouts down any other positive attributes this one might have.
Three ounces & done. This one logs as a serious disappointment. Few hops, way too much yeast & bread. Won't finish this one.

On tap at Barley Island in Noblesville
Pint glass with 1/2 finger of off white foam and nice sticky lace on the glass
Smell is basic hops and pine with a malty backbone.
Taste follows the nose. Bitter hops without a ton else.
An average IPA that I feel with a bit of tweeting could be great

Rather boring. A crispy malt with very light hops for an IPA. No underlying flavored, no great smell. Nothing makes this beer bad, but nothing makes it good as well.

I had this poured into a pint glass at my hotel bar in Indy, my first offering from these guys. Pretty standard IPA. Good looking copper color, I'd say definitely above average. Not a ton of taste, mild hops, some slight pine...strong aroma given the flavor. Not bad.
