The selection is better then the selection at the Bar Barry across from VBS #1 on campus; however, it still is not a good store. The people that work there do not really know much about beer, or really anything they sell. Its dark, its kind of dusty and there is BMC every where, shocking. They do have one shelf that is dedicated to craft beers and offer some Bells, Founders, Stone, things you would expect to find. I did one trip find a vertical epic 08 and 09 together on the shelf, for the same price because they didn't know the difference. Personally its not worth the trip out there to see what they have. Further down the same street is another VBS, which i feel has the best selection in town. I wouldn't waste my time at this location.

This place is the second string liquor store near Purdue, to every VBS location. When I was in there, the staff is friendly, but relatively useless. They ask if you need help finding anything, but no suggestions in the way of craft beer.

Their selection though wasn't terrible. I found some Sam Adams varieties that VBS didn't have, also some Franziskaner and Young's Double Chocolate that VBA don't have. Also, if you're looking for Founder's, and saving 20 cents on a 6 or 4-pack is important to you, go here instead of VBS.

Overall, not a terrible place to stop in and see if they have something out of the ordinary, but if you're looking for someone with some knowledge about craft beer, choose VBS over Bar Barry.

Well... It's fairly inexpensive, if macros are your thing. The place is dark and dirty and the help is not helpful. I wasn't even acknowledged when I walked in and trying to get a question answered was an exercise in I don't knows. They have your standard arraingement of micro-brews which basically boils down to Sierra Nevada. I did see a few imports but again it's the popular stuff not the good stuff. If dark wood paneling and being left alone is your thing shop here. Otherwise avoid like the plague.

This is a college town liquor store that caters strictly to those try to get drunk instead of enjoying what they're drinking. They feature cheap cases of BMC but they don't even have the cheapest prices around. They're also a little heavy on 40 ouncers. They'll point you in the direction of their cheapest products, damning quality. The one upside here is that they do have limited glassware but like I said, it's limited. Heaven forbid they have pilsner glasses. Since they don't feature craft beer the staff isn't very knowledgeable and will just watch you walk around the store instead of trying to help. Avoid!

Ok, so after reading these reviews I am starting to wonder if we are all talking about the same place. This place wasn't much to look at but in all honesty it wasn't as bad on selection as the one down closer to campus (perhaps people are confusing the two). This place is your average liquor store in appearance and service. I'm not gonna say anything more than that because there isn't much more to say. But what brings people to liquors stores it sure as hell isn't the ambiance. The selection at this place seemed to be pretty good for both wine and the hard stuff. But talking about beer is why we're here. The beer selection isn't that bad. There is a lot of macros in the fridge section but there are two shelves that have some of the regular craft fair that you might be more apt to find in the Indiana region and overall it's not too bad of a place.

For a college town this is a decent liquor store. Plenty of cheap booze. But for a beer drinker, it is a very very weak store. 40s and basic macro beer make the basic stock with an occasional Sunset Wheat or Sam Admas seasonal making an apperance. Even then it may be somewhat of a gamble on how old the beer is and what kind of storage its seen. The biggest porblem is the staff. They are more then happy to show you the cheapest beer possible so you can get wasted, but if you want some engaging beer talk and some solid recomendations this is not the place to be. I asked for a good IPA and they told me they thought they had it in a 40. Come on... Not really worth the chance if your looking for a good beer or something new. Its really a better idea to go down the street to the next beer store.

I've taken many visits out here to Bar Barry, and, frankly, I can't really see all the negativity I've read so far. In all fairness, yes the beer area is rather small, and the selection is by no means the greatest, and some of the bottles can be a little dusty. I will even give that certain employees don't seem to really have the fire for their work that we BAs would prefer. Still, on most of my visits, the guys working there have been very personable and, when I've asked for help/recommendations, very helpful. And considering the small selection, I've found some relatively cherry brews here, especially the Stone Bitter Chocolate Oatmeal Stout when everywhere else nearby was sold out. I've also found some nice clearance-sale goodies as well, including an Aventinus gift set. In all, not the premier beer joint in the area, but by no means as bad as others would make out. Give 'em a look-see if you're nearby.

I was excited to stop in before I got close enough to see it resembled that of a worn down in-door flea market. The place looks huge from the outside, but the sign had missing letters (I guess that should have been a "sign" from the get go). Lots of store, so little products! I looked around for their micro section and never found it. I thought with a store this size that perhaps they had another room perhaps with the micro beer. I ask the teller and he kinda sighed and pointed me towards the first isle. Ahh there it is! Dusty, dusty beer of harp, blue moon, and the best thing that they had, sierra nevada pale ale. I ask the guy working if he could order anything and he seemed hesitant. He said he was unsure because he didn't do the ordering and for me to call tomorrow and ask for the GM! He didn't take a note or even acted like that was a question he had been asks before. The beer there seemed a little pricey but I don't know the going price for a case of macro-beer. I was just really upset at the lack of care and respect they had for micro-beer.
