Head retained for a good while. Meanwhile the body of the beer continued to bubble in quite a lively way.
Pale bright straw. Crystal clear.
Little nose/smell, just a slight hoppiness.
Very nice 'rounded' flavour on the palette.
Very refreshing, if a little unremarkable. I'd enjoy again, but perhaps not specifically go and seek it out.

A: Very, very pale yellow. Clear liquid. Pretty big white uneven head that leaves some lacings.
S: A very weak smell. Some malts and white bread. Faint grassy hops, a hint of lemon and some spices.
T: Not much going on here either, rather restrained. Nice spices, though. Some malty sweetness and white bread as well. Some grassy hops and resins. The finish is short and has a mineral-like touch to it. A refreshing yet restrained bitterness develops in the finish, though.
M: Light body and plenty of lively carbonation.
D: This is a good beer, easy to drink and refreshing. But it's not outstanding and it's not very exciting. Probably one for those warm summer nights.

330ml bottle. Always nice to see an example of an esoteric style from its point of origin arrive on my local shelves.
This beer pours a crystal clear, very pale golden straw colour, with two pudgy fingers of puffy, thinly foamy, and mostly bubbly off-white head, which leaves some nicely evil-looking webbed lace around the glass as things quickly sink away.
It smells of bready, doughy pale malt, a hint of white wine must, some old lemon fruitiness, and grassy, leafy hops. The taste is more grainy cereal-heavy pale malt, a bit of apple and white grape fruity tartness, and earthy, leafy, and mild wild grass hops. Simple, but decently so.
The bubbles are pleasantly interactive, but gentle in the process, the body on the far, far side of medium weight, and plainly smooth, the slightest hint of airy creaminess seeping in. It finishes off-dry, a tad, the remaining cereal malt still heady enough to easily keep the lingering fruitiness and still innocuous hops at bay.
A fresh (despite the real time and distance between me and the source of this offering) pale Euro lager, meant more for sunny, humid outdoor patio drinking orgies, rather than a mid-December northern climate's, um, huddlings, but things being as they are, I verily appreciate the out of season images this one paints in my head - ja, Fraulein, I would very much like another.

Enjoyed a bottle brought back from Koln. The label is marked 27.10.10. As expected, this was a tasty and crisp little ale. The aroma has an interested toasted popcorn and grain character with a tiny hint of citrus. The flavor expands on the dry grainy toast with biting orange peel that rolls through a dry finish. Along the way there are also hints of sweet apple (maybe Pink Lady) and fresh raspberries and blueberries. The fruit isn't quite as big as Reissdorf, but it's still all very well balanced. Check out this kolsch classic when you get a chance.

Ahhhh, sitting near the Dom, eating a Halve Hahn and drinking a nice Koelsch as fresh as it comes. This, my friends, is heaven. Sit down, shout 'Eh, Kurbis!' with pride and enjoy one of the finest beers the world has to offer.
How does the beer taste? Well, it's simple, sweet and clean. Like any other Koelsch, it has broad appeal. That also means that there isn't really anything too special about it. It's just a well-put-together beer. Enjoy with friends and food and life will be good.

Poured by the cute flight attendant on my Germanwings flight to the UK, from a .5L bottle to a small cheep plastic cup. The liquid was light gold, with ok carbonation. The head was ok almost 2 fingers white and left some lace.
The smell was a nice hops, slightly citrus with a crusty malt.
The taste was nice, lighter bread malt, slightly crusty and a mild nutty note. The hops added a crisp lemon citrus finish.
The mouthfeel was good, a solid medium body and good carbonation.
The drinkability was good, not a bad sample of a brew we don't get much of in the Kurpfaltz.

Crystal clear golden color with a nice 1 finger bright white head which dies rather quickly. Soft fruitiness with a sweet graininess.
Sweet graininess, light body and light effervescence. Toasted grain, faint butteriness, tart fruit flavors, bit of apple, sweet grain husk, Faint fruity hoppy bitterness to balance. Pretty good, very clean with good flavors and goes down like water.

On gravity at Frueh am Dom.
It pours a perfect clear yellow with a nice white head. Retention isn't great, but it does leave decent lacing.
Smells of light hops, pilsner malt, and not much else. The taste is pretty similar, with some spices also evident.
It's a bit on the light and watery side, but that's just the style; the carbonation does keep it interesting.
Very, very drinkable session beer. Not my favorite koelsch, but close to it.

Poured from a brown 16.9 oz. bottle. Has a pale yellow color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of malts, some floral hops. Taste is mild, malty, a bit bready, some floral hops, a hint of sweetness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent and refreshing beer, probably better suited to the summer.
