Nice offering from probably the most well-known of the Cologne breweries.

The distinct differce I noticed between this and the rest of the city's Kolsch beers, is that there was a low amount of hoppiness. This opened the door for more fruitiness and the freshness was more recognisable. Sampling this is a right of passage when in town.

Solid, enjoyable, but maybe not a true representation of the style?

0,5 l bottle into a plastic pint after sauna. Beautiful straw color with a two finger white head and effervescent bubbling. Somewhat sweet floral smell with a hint of fresh grass. Crisp taste of grainy malts with notes of apple and grassy hops. Very balanced and drinkable. Medium-light body, medium carbonation. Overall a really pleasant beer after a hot day and sauna. Didn't last long in the pint and left me wanting another.

500ml bottle from Good Spirits Co, Glasgow (£2.80):
Very light & clear, golden straw with a thumb-sized, bubbly head that's white with a fine texture, lots of visible carbonation and good retention.

Like a lager on the nose with some light, sweet malts a& hints of floral, some grassy hops feature too but the aroma isn't the most pronounced. Plenty of grain, some further sweetness & some bread with touches of yeast in there as well.

Light malts with touches of sweetness coming through & some bread as well. Quite a lot of grain is present, there is some faint floral flavours & fruit with some citrus but again nothing is particularly strong.

The beer is a light bodied, almost thin one with some grain & medium carbonation. It proved quite easy to drink with light bitter finish that is slightly tangy as well.

Very similar to a pale lager in a lot of ways & I wasn't particularly impressed with this one really. It was a drinkable beer & it's always nice to get a new style under my belt but I didn't think it was a great beer really.

Quite the find for under $4

Perfect pour. Light golden, very clear. Nice fluffy white head of about 2 fingers; lingered for half the glass. Timid swirl brought it back

Aroma has a gentle undertone of malt and sweetness, white grape. Consistent front of grassy hops and slight spice

Clean flavor. The white grape is noticeable at the end, but not dominant. Good combo of hop zip and carbonation. This is a porch pounding beer and would go quite well with grilled white meats and salads

I enjoyed this from the brown bottle in a mug chilled.

The color is golden straw with very good clarity and thick white cream of two fingers high w/ very fine bead visibly carbonated with smooth creamy froth for head and good retention as lace sticks well. The smell is fruity but light with subtle pear-likes sweet fragrant yeast with mild aroma of malt with mineral quality accenting. The feel has slight yeast up front with malt sweetness and moderately high carbonation with smooth creamy body, mild bitterness and semi-dry finish.

The taste is malt oriented with mild entry and gentle hops which are herbal with not overly bitter taste. The yeast adds fruitiness with subtle hint of alcohol in the background and pilsner malt taste throughout which is refined and subtle but hops have a toned down effect. This is a great kolsch -might be one of the best I have had it is a treat to sip and savor I would have got more if I could I love the subtlety and drinkability.
