Quite the find for under $4
Perfect pour. Light golden, very clear. Nice fluffy white head of about 2 fingers; lingered for half the glass. Timid swirl brought it back
Aroma has a gentle undertone of malt and sweetness, white grape. Consistent front of grassy hops and slight spice
Clean flavor. The white grape is noticeable at the end, but not dominant. Good combo of hop zip and carbonation. This is a porch pounding beer and would go quite well with grilled white meats and salads

I enjoyed this from the brown bottle in a mug chilled.
The color is golden straw with very good clarity and thick white cream of two fingers high w/ very fine bead visibly carbonated with smooth creamy froth for head and good retention as lace sticks well. The smell is fruity but light with subtle pear-likes sweet fragrant yeast with mild aroma of malt with mineral quality accenting. The feel has slight yeast up front with malt sweetness and moderately high carbonation with smooth creamy body, mild bitterness and semi-dry finish.
The taste is malt oriented with mild entry and gentle hops which are herbal with not overly bitter taste. The yeast adds fruitiness with subtle hint of alcohol in the background and pilsner malt taste throughout which is refined and subtle but hops have a toned down effect. This is a great kolsch -might be one of the best I have had it is a treat to sip and savor I would have got more if I could I love the subtlety and drinkability.

Hard to find Kolsch in Edmonton, but I found two bottles of Fruh and tried them out. A pale yellow colour with a lot of bubbles. There was a nice bit of foam but it dissipated quickly, leaving some lacing behind. A floral smell with a perfect crisp taste. The taste was mostly in the center of the mouth so it didn't overwhelm but I thought it could have been more well-rounded.
I really liked this beer and hope to get more of this specific brand as well as some other Kolschs. It would be perfect on a hot day sitting on my deck.

500 ml bottle served in a tulip glass.
A: slightly cloudy golden color with a white head that dissipates quickly
S: very delicate floral nose, presumably from the noble hops used by the Cologne brewing convention; the tulip glass brings up the delicate nose nicely
T: prominent characteristic beer flavor from the pale barley malt, with a mild sweetness said to be from the special ale yeast used by the Cologne brewing convention; noble hop bitterness was noticeable but very mild
M: Light body, medium carbonation, smooth round mouth feel; just what you look for in a kölsch
O: Reminds me of the sips of beer my German grandfather gave me when I was little. For me a kölsch from Cologne is a definitive light German ale and there is none better than Früh.

500ml bottle served in a Pilsen glass.
A: Pours a pale and very clear yellow color forming a medium, bubbled and very aired white head that dissipates quickly leaving only few spotty lacings in the glass
S: Very grainy as expected. Strong notes of sweet malts and bready yeasts. Liquid bread. Very crispy. Earthy yeasts and some flowery hops in the end
T: Follows the nose. Slightly sweet upfront. Strong notes of sweet malts. Very bready and crispy. In overall, a dry taste followed by a light hops bitterness
M: Light body and medium carbonation. Crispy malty aftertaste
O: Quite drinkable. Real German stuff...
