Has the look with a dark black pour. Some brown edges, but extreme nothingness. Up top is a thin head with little retention. As the head dissipates, a thin white film sits atop the dark liquid presenting an attractive contrast. Very thin, barely noticeable spotty lace.

A caramel malt bomb explodes from the glass filling the nose with cola scents. Just the faintest bit of licorice, but mostly just caramel.

Pretty much one dimensional with nothing but caramel malts for taste. Regardless of the lack of complexity, it's still a taste to savor.

A one trick pony with just enough roasty grains to keep the sweetness from the caramel malt in check. There is something providing a slightly dry finish that prickles the tongue til the next sip.

A really simple beer, that does everything well. There are no layers, no complexity, just an easy drinking beer that belies it's 7+% ABV.

Bottle received in trade from BeerKangaroo, thanks for the opportunity and a great trade!
Pours a solid dark brown/ black color with a huge khaki head that persists forever leaving a moderate amount of lace on the sides. Aromas of chocolate and roast with a decent amount of burnt caramel and earthy hop in there. A touch of oxidation in there, but that could be from the damaged cap upon shipping, and it really doesn't detract much anyhow. The flavor is rich roasty and chocolate up front. Bits of caramel and dark dried fruits and a touch of earthen crusted hops round out the flavor nicely. Medium to thick body with a light to moderate level of carbonation and a silky creamy smooth mouthfeel. Pretty damn good oatmeal stout right there in my glass, so glad I got to try this.

On tap at Tap Root Cafe in Anchorage.

Pours dark black, but with some translucence around the edges of the glass when held to light and when almost gone. Thin tan head dissipates quickly but leaves modest lacing that hangs around for the life of the beer and then some.

With a good swirl I caught alcohol first then the dominant roastiness emerges and blends with a submissive malty sweetness.

A thick, creamy, rich and complex blend of sweet maltiness, roasted grains, and hop bitterness. I get roasted grains and hop bitterness first and assertively, and they linger and fade gradually as the malty sweetness emerges and balances, to some extent. The roasty flavor continues dominant stance. Roastiness lingers on the tongue long after the swallow.

modest carbonation, creamy, but thick and full.

With my typically non-beer drinking girlfriend poaching sips, the first one went down like water. Number two was savored over a longer interval. To some degree it drinks like a meal, but that, to me, is no defect. It is plenty drinkable for the style.

Some certified (literally) beer geeks at the next table over stated that they felt it was "overly" roasty. Since "overly" is subjective, that is a fair assessment. But I found it plenty but not overly roasty and more satisfying than the Elysian Dragonstooth, amother great stout, that I had last night.

Had this in a nitro'd up party pig from the brewery - stays good for months after purchase if kept in the frig. I recommend taking a trip there as they will go through all their beers for you. I'm very impressed with this local brewer, and this oatmeal stout is one of their best.

The appearance is very dark, only slight translucence at the very edges of the glass.

Tastes of malty roasted nuts. Very little bitterness, slight taste of hops at the very beginning and very end of each taste.

This beer is smooth and more drinkable than I would expect of a stout at 7.2%. I highly recommend.

Appearance is black with a medium bubbled, olive tinged tan head leaving scattered, foamy lace.

Smell is sweet ethanol, herbal hops, nutty.

Taste is also on the nutty side, sweet almond, a little coffee, herbal. Light acrid roast.

Mouthfeel is slippery and soft, on the lighter side.

Drinkability is pretty good, it's pretty easy sipping, decent flavor, clean and smooth. I notice a similar profile with most of the malty Kassik's brews, sweet, nutty, and grassy, which gets boring.

Pours dark brown, almost back, with a khaki head. Aroma is dark roasted, dark fruits, cocoa, and earthy hops. Flavor is dry, dark, and roasted, with some char, dark fruits and some cocoa, a touch of some carmel and an earthy bitter finish. A creamy, medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, a decent beer but not to my tastes, as I don’t care for hopped up stouts. Would drink again, but wouldn’t choose this one either.
