L: light amber slightly Orange and cloudy, Lots of lacing. S: muted citrus, very malty, banana, butterscotch. T: malty, lots of minerality plenty of bitterness, there is biscuit flavor, not overly pine like it disapaited quickly. Also I'm picking up some diacetyl. F: pretty full bodied for a ipa but it is typical of the style I think, something like a extra hoppy ESB. Plenty of carbonation. Overall: This is not a bad beer but there is to much butterscotch on the nose it is out of balanced between the aromas and taste which is kinda weird.

Handsome creamy foam on the dark amber brew poured in the Pilsner glass. Sudsy and watery body that is more pleasant than the taste. Smells like used straw.

Distinctive woody and musty taste. I keep thinking of mushrooms and caramel. They call this an English style IPA with dry hopping. Rather sharp on the tongue. A dirty kind of flavor with some old fruit and a residual sweetness. Persimmons and bitter herbal tea.

Whatever this is, it's not interesting. Drinkable enough but the bitterness gets wearing. Purchased at Fat Stan's in Ketchikan. Seven bucks for the 22 oz bottle. You'd think beer would be more expensive in Alaska.

Bottle code MFG 12022012. Hated 22oz bottle. Bottle was a gusher. Poured a cloudy, almost opaque, orange with 1/2 inch of off-white head that had low retention and lots of lacing.

The aroma had a slight funk that's perhaps from the yeast, and perhaps from the year in the bottle. Otherwise, it had the aroma of a typical example of the style, medium malts and lots of faded hops. Same story on the tongue, perhaps a good beer once, now it's merely OK.

The body was nicely full and smooth, with a dry finish. Drinkability was good, and I suspect would be better fresh. Overall, a solid beer that I hope to try again fresher.

On tap. Pours dark amber with white head. Aroma is of ripe apples, caramel malt and hints of hops. Body is medium and tangy. Citrusy, herbal hops dominate the palate with caramel malt and ripe fruit provide some balance. Long finish is greapfruity. Very nice IPA.

A: poured brownish orange in color with yellow highlights and a half finger of head that left a little lacing sticking to the glass.

S: mostly sweetness from the malts was what I detected with very little hop character, a little toasty, hints of citrus and grians.

T: lots of grain flavor upfront on the palate alongside plenty of malty sweetness, very little citrus a little bready toasty and thats pretty much it; very bland.

M: the brew was medium in body with fair amount of carbonation which had a sweet, very mild hoppy and citrusy with a slightly crisp finish.

O: really not much to this beer all around, not really my style of IPA. I think I'll stick to the west coast hop bombs.

22oz bottle poured into a large mug

Pours dark amber, slightly cloudy, with a respectable tan head. Medium carbonation is apparent. Smell is syrupy and hoppy.

Taste is crisply hoppy with a nice strong malty background, pretty well balanced. A little straw flavor.

Mouthfeel is thick and slightly sticky.

Overall, this is a good solid beer. It's not spectacular, but good.
