Pours opaque, dark brown in color with one inch head. Taste is big nut with supporting flavors of leather and caramel. Sweet, medium-heavy bodied with moderate carbonation. This is one of the better imperial browns I have had. Lots of great nut flavor and not overly boozy. A nice malty treat that i would get again if I wanted the style.

Into a mug. The appearance has a hazy dark brown colored body with a one finger white foamy head that dies at a nice pace leaving some nice foamy lacing in its wake, spiderwebs slightly after a good minute. The smell is nutty and malty with some nice added chocolate to add a slight sweetness, do I smell root beer? I think so, but I like it. The taste is mainly sweet through the previously mentioned flavors, nutty aftertaste, sticky yet dry nutty finish. On the palate, its on the medium side, sessionable - hmmm... not as much as some American Brown Ales can, but given the ABV level I can see why this isn’t - no worries. Overall, pretty nice imperial brown ale that I'd have again.

Pours a deep reddish brown with a nice sized head that hangs around, without overstaying its welcome. Smelling a nice toasty, nutty, booziness. I'm tasting the toasted malt, not as much nutty flavor as I was hoping for, and there is a nice hint of bitterness to round out the sweet malt forward flavor. A little earthy flavor in there too. Feels creamy and thicker than most nut browns. 8.5% ABV, wut? This drinks like 5.5% ABV. Good nut brown!

Imperial Nut Brown Ale 8.5%
Handsome reddish brown brew with an ample head and lots of lacing down the Pilsner glass. Full bodied with lots of malty substance. Pleasant carbonation lightens up the mouthfeel.

Warm and malty taste with a sweet nutty flavor, like a hint of candied walnuts. Dark roasted malt dominates. Some coffee-like charred bitterness. Hops are in the background. Dark flavors with a hint of toffee. Slight bitter aftertaste.

This is quite drinkable and doesn't taste very strong. An excellent Brown Ale with a butter-pecan taste. Not too sweet, but the hint of liqueur is quite tasty. From the 22 oz bottle with the wooly mammoths on the label, purchased at a Juneau liquor store.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a dark mahogany brown with a half finger light tan head that dissipates slowly to a thin film. Aroma of sweet malted mik malt and nuts. Flavor follows with big sweet malt, very nutty with a slight hop bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with a good mouth feel. A nice malty brown ale that is very similar in character to a doppelbock. Not quite as much hop presence as a typical American brown and a bit sweeter. I'm a fan of malt and don't mind a bit of sweetness, and this really hit the spot for me. If you like doppelbocks, you may want to give this one a spin. To its credit, I think this may be an old bottle; I found it by itself in a cooler and have not seen another bottle around, so it may be a year or more old. If so, it held up beautifully and I'll buy it again if I see it fresh.

22oz bottle split between a pair of pint glasses. Poured moderately vigorously. Fridge temp. Bottle code is MFG03222013.

Pours surprisingly cloudy, with a medium pale head. Very brown, moderately dark. Smell is nutty, a little bit chocolatey, a little bit yeasty.

Taste is sweet, nutty, something oddly spicy about it, vague sourness which almost translates into bitterness. Alcohol might be the cause of this -- I think it's noticeable.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, slightly sticky, slightly slick feeling. Overall, it's not bad.

Wonderful imperial brown. Lots of milk chocolate and nuttiness in both the nose and flavor. Moreso in the flavor. The flavor borders on richness. Brown colored and smooth medium body. Would have this again. Thanks Roberts for sharing this Alaskan treat!

Forgot where I got bottle. Poured at a good temperature, with a fizzy, tan head that immediately settle to a small island and no lace. Color is a clear mahogany. Aroma is malt and fruit, a bit of molasses. Flavor's like nose; malt/fruit sweetness stands out, backed by a slightly sharp carbonic tang and finished with a bit of roast. Body is ok, but carbonation is a tad coarse. Finish again, has just about the only hint of being true to Nut Brown, does have some alcohol warmth and is of average length. Ok beer.
