Poured this 22 oz. brown bottle into a Sam Adams glass. No date but I think it may be a little old. Body was clear and golden orange. A vigorous pour created only a small temporary head. Some lacing did remain.

Smell was vegetal. Corn. Grains.

Taste was lightly bitter. Corn. Muted malts. Light sourness, lemons.

Mouthfeel had a light slickness and mild carbonation.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy golden to amber color with a one finger head. Decent retention and lacing.

Smell: A bit of a grainy smell initially. Citrus notes are underlying (orange and lemon). Definitely has a bit of a hoppy smell. There's a little malt in there, but hops are certainly stronger.

Taste: Grainy taste is blended well with the citrus notes. The lemon taste seems to overpower the orange a little, but you can still taste some orange. Malt and hops seem pretty equally balanced despite that the hops smelled stronger. Strong biscuity taste remains.

Mouthfeel/Drinkability: It's light bodied, crisp, and refreshing. Very easy to drink. This would readily apparent on a hot day. Overall, it's a pretty good lager. Recommended.

Lucent (early), murky (late) butterscotch with ripe golden delicious apple peel accents at the margins. The head is off-beige with a significant yellowish orange tint. An impressive three fingers to start, it becomes somewhat rocky as it descends. One fat ring occupies the high ground with scattershot lace leading down to the now deflated, creamy cap.

The nose is slightly more hoppy than it is malty. Still though, I'd never have guessed '100% Czech Saaz Hops' if I hadn't read it on the silk-screened label. Lovin' Lager smells like cereal grains and honey with a twist of lemon. The floral character of the Saaz is easy to identify.

This all-malt lager is firmly malted with a unique, pleasant flavor that is reminiscent of fresh, sweet grain soaked in honey, rolled in lemon zest and flecked with hop leaves. Well done Siletz, well done. The beer is more hoppy in the mouth than it was in the nose, with a flowery, sour citrus flash on the medium length finish.

LL is one of the biggest, most viscous all-malt lagers that I've ever run across. Style Nazis will be aghast, but my big beer lovin' self is lovin' the Lovin Lager mouthfeel. The amount of carbonation (subdued) is near perfect as well; another major plus.

What happens when a craft brewery sets out to make a big ass lager and pulls no punches? Lovin Lager is what happens. Even though I've yet to taste a beer of this style that truly sets my world on fire, Siletz's offering gathers the kindling and gets ready to strike the match.

I'll try not to read too much into this having been on the bottom shelf at my local beer emporium.

It pours like a lager, amazing carbonation activity, little sprites jump around the glass, but the head never amounts to much more that a snowy continent in a yellow sea. The body is somewhat darker than I'd expect; really a deep golden, and quite attractive. The floaty bits make me think I've just poured one of my favorite IPAs, but as I lean in to smell, its obviously not.

The aroma is distinctly Saaz, rich and regal. There's something else creeping around the primary bitter smell that has a bit more body - almost earthy or cellar in quality. Its nice.

If I knew how to spell the sound that a stereotypical Italian chef makes when he does that finger kissing smack-muah thing, I would. The taste is brilliant, and is I'm sure how god meant for a pilsner to taste. Crisp delivery of a rich pilsner malt flavor, both sweet, and kind of fleshy. There's almost a pulpy sensation to the beer, and its really....very....good. There's something else hidden in the flavor though, like there's a flavor easter egg. That surprise is a rich citrus twist that you'd expect from the IPA you thought you poured. Despite this small addition, its still very true to its pilsner roots, flavor and experience wise. I wouldn't recommend any changes for this one.

A pint at the Siletz roadhouse. Well a very nice looking lager, darker than the usual ppilsner..almost orange in colour, similar to a clear hefe...nice sized pure white head. Very hoppy aroma greets the nose..hoppy and fresh. There is however a good accounting of the malt on the first sip nicely done offsets the dry bitter finish quite well. Very good on the palate..a very nice drinking lager..I am beginning to love this brewery

Lovin' Lager was served from a 22 oz. bomber. In a pint glass, the brew was hazy golden yellow in color, and was topped by a rough and sticky white head that left similar lacing. The nose had a firm dry graininess too it, and was accented nicely with a lively orange peel essence and a good hop bouquet. Flavor-wise, this lager was rich and tasty...more so than the nose let on. A crisp citric orange-tinged creamy doughy body danced on the palate with long lasting zippy energy. The finish was excellent and lingering, consisting of a pronounced orange-bitter aromatic blast. While the flavor was rather straighforward in its profile, it was very robust, balanced, and satisfying. The body was wonderfully composed, and the carbonation perfect. Great stuff.

The house menu is as off kilter as you can get. “Creamy white head … bitter hop aroma … high carbonation.” Lovin Lager is none of the above except perhaps in its bottled form or when particularly fresh, when carbonation and a thick white head have been known to make generous appearances. My pint at the Siletz Roadhouse was a bit tired and lacked vigor. Nonetheless, Lovin Lager delivers a notably solid malt structure with a flavor that touches upon the cream ale style. An ale-ish fruitiness makes itself known and is not unwelcome.

Siletz’s only lager is deep glowing yellow and stands out in vivid contrast against the ghostly pallor of the Coors Light the locals seem to be sucking on. A grainy-doughy maltiness is allowed to set the stage while reserved, ornamental hops fit like a glove.

Overall, a pleasant, satisfying brew though I’d score it a notch higher if they could serve it to me fresh.

I sampled this lager during a visited to the Siletz Road House and brewery in Oregon.

It's a crystal clear golden lager with a tight white head. A malty aroma leads to a -- surprise! -- malty taste with a crisp mouthfeel and a nice Saaz finish.

This reminds me of Czech lagers like Radegast, only more hoppy. Their menu described this as a Czech lager, so that explains the similarities.

Light gold color, slightly cloudy, large head. A light bodied, unfiltered lager brewed in the Czech style. Spicy Czech saaz hoops balance mild malts. A nice tasting lager. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. Nice lager, very refreshing.

12 oz brown stubby bottle with no freshness date, a thin layer of sediment easily flows with the beer as it is decanted into the glass.

Appearance: Thick pancake like head with a patchy off white lace. A yeast hazed pale orange amber glows in the light.

Smell: Spicy herbal hop aroma with some lemony citric hop oil in there as well. Doughy toasty yeast-grain mix in the nose as well.

Taste & Mouthfeel: Deep crispness meets up with the slick smoothness. Doughy biscuity malt is in the raw as it wraps around the nutty yeast. Hops are spicy with a lemony twang in the back, a but coarse and herbal as well. Dry malt character is snappish in the end with a long lingering hop finish.

Drinkability & Notes: A tasty little lager, unfiltered is fine with me as long as you like yeast in your beer . I am totally fine with that. I could easily sit down with this lager for a session.

The archetypal lager color on the pour a cloudless gold with a bright white head that is creamy in texture, the size massive, after desiccating, the lace left behind a fine sheet. Quintessential lager nose malt, citrus crisp, clean and fresh with the start mostly malt, somewhat sweet, the top skimpy in feel, the finish modest on the carbonation, the hops pleasant in their spicy bite and the aftertaste dry and long lasting. What can I say a “Lager is a Lager is a Lager”!

This was a nice clean lager with actual malt flavor. Aroma was a bit sulphery after it warmed a little. Body was somewhat amber colored. Carbonation was perfect for this brew and gave it a creamy mouthfeel which made it quite quaffable. Mild husky grain flavors and a touch of sweetness. Finished off moderately bitter with a good saaz type hop flavor. Very nice, I can see drinking many liters of this in one session.

Pungent (almost egg) malt nose with hops notes. Unfiltered hazy look. Lasting white head with lace. Interesting look for a lager. Unfiltered with a nice head.. almost experimental in nature. Solid malt base to the taste with a sweet tongue and a slightly bitter hop finish. There ia a distinct sweet odor that hovers on the surface of the brew, it is slightly funky. Overall not traditional to the style but interesting due to its unique flavor.

Cheers to mattmaples for the sample
