I picked up a bottle of Arbor Brewing's Sodibo Wild Roots 2016 at Boyne Country Provisions. I've always wasnted to try this beer but up in till now I've never seen it, so as soon as I saw it I new I had to get one to try, so lets see how it goes. 2016 Vintage. Poured from a brown 750ml bottle into a Teku.

A- The label looks good, it had a nice design to it and it's a little eye catching. It poured a hazy and slightly muddy amber orange color that took on more of a nice muddy bright orange hue and it had half a fingers worth of very bubbly off white head that died down to a thin ring that eventually faded away and it left a little bit of spotty lacing behind. This is a pretty nice looking, i have no complaints.

S- The aroma starts off with a higher amount of medium sweetness with a big fruit, sweet tart and sour candy like aroma being the first to show up with some apricot, berries and tropical fruit like aromas coming through. Up next comes a slightly bit of funky yeast which is just a little noticeable and towards the end comes the malts which impart a sweet malt, pale malt, biscuit and grainy like aromas. This beer has a very nice aroma, but I wish the funky yeast showed up a little more.

T- The taste seems to be fairly similar to the aroma and it starts off with a higher amount of medium sweetness with that some fruit and candy flavors being the first to show up and it imparts all the same aspects that it did in the aroma, but this time it's just a little lighter. Up next come a lower amount of high sourness which is followed by the barrel which is pretty noticeable and it imparts some nice funky oak and wood flavors and it's slightly butter and it goes in the funky yeast which is pretty light and it blends into the barrel. Towards the end comes the malts which impart the same aspects that they did in the aroma. On the finish there's some lingering sourness with a sour, fruity and woody aftertaste. This is a very nice tasting beer, the barrel gives it some nice complexity and all the different flavors work well together.

M- Fairly smooth, not too acidic, mouth puckering, not too crisp, on the slightly thicker side of being medium bodied with a lower amount of medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is good and it works well with this beer.

Overall I thought this was a very nice beer and I thought it was a very nice example of the style, it had all the aspects that I was looking for and that barrel gave this beer that really nice complexity that reminds me of some of the best Belgian made sours. This bee had nice drinkability, one glass would be the perfect amount for me, but I was able to drink the full bottle. What I like the most about this beer is the complexity, it's just where I want it. What I like the least about this beer is the appearance, it's not bad, but I wish the head was better and it wasn't a little muddy looking. I wold for sure buy this beer again if I see it again and it would be nice to put one in the cellar to see how it changes with age. I would recommend trying this beer if you like the classic sours and wild ales. All in all I was very happy with this beer and a little impressed, I've tried a couple sours from this brewery, but this is hands down on another level than those. It's now one of my favorite Arbor beers and it's a really nice example of the style especially for being made in America. Great job guys, this is one tasty and well executed beer, keep it up.
