I really, really like this beer. I discovered it randomly last year just searching for Christmassy flavours, and gave it a shot. It's been a holiday staple ever since.

I know citrusy flavours can work in beer - I mean, look at all the white beers out there like Rickard's White or Blue Moon in the States...very delicious. This one brings a new level of orange to your amber ale, however, but it's not over powering in the least - it's fresh, it's clean, it's delicious, and that's all I could ever want.

Summer or winter, this beer is delicious. If you find some, definitely give it a try!

A - pale copper with a short head that dissipated to a few ransom blobs with some lacing
S - a prominent sweet & sour mandarin aroma, light leafy and grainy aromas
T - the mandarin flavour starts pleasant but turns a little too artificial on the finish, light molasses maltiness with a little nutty flavour
M - medium to light body with good carbonation, slightly tart and finishes dry
O - right behind their nut brown ale in terms of quality, its nothing outstanding but is tasty and worth picking up a mixer pack to enjoy

Clear bottle - nay. Bottle in sealed box - yea.

This beer pours a clear, medium-dark amber hue, with two fingers of thin creamy off-white head, which settles quite slowly, eventually leaving some decent painted lace around the glass. There is also a constant rising effervescence. It smells strongly of sweet, citrusy, herbal Christmas oranges, an underlying caramel malt, and some mild earthy spice. The taste is nice bready/caramel malt, more sweet/tart citrus, and leafy, earthy hops. The carbonation is a bit on the soft side, the body quite smooth and a little on the light side for the style. It finishes with a drying biscuity graininess, and more inescapable herbal citrus fruitiness.

I can't deny the pervasiveness of the titular fruit in this beer, however, it is well integrated, never becoming obtrusive or cloying. I like mandarin oranges. I like this beer, though maybe not, in the same vein, in large amounts.

Got a Dead frog mix pack as a gift and as a huge fan of blue moon and other citrus ales I tried this first.

Poured a nice copper amber with some frosty head head that didn't have much retention

Smell was malty but you can pick up some citrus

The taste was much on the line of a copper amber ale with the orange cumming as a subtle after taste and the after byte was dry which would be nice as a summer beer

Overall a nice drinking experience that was much different and unique from most beers

A - Pours a nice amber colour with a finger of soapy head with decent retention and some sporadic lacing.

S - Unique on the nose indeed. Some bready malt with butter tones and pepper, followed by a bitter citrus scent reminiscent of Tang.

T - Flipside of the scent, with the orange citrus taking the stronger presence up front, followed by some mild breaded malt, touch of cloves and a bitter leafy hop that lingers. THe orange can be a bit overpowering, but at least it doesn't come across overly synthetic.

M - A tad light and a bit dry, which was a bit of a turnoff.

O - Not bad at all... I had set my expectations rather low, so was pleasantly surprised at how drinkable this was. Certainly a good summer patio drink, though the orange can be a bit overpowering at times, making a little less likely as a session ale. Nonetheless, worth taking for a spin.

Pours clear, brownish-orange with a short spritzy head. That settles quickly to a partial ring and doesn't really show any lacing.

Aroma is noticeably orange laid over top of malts and grain. And yeah, it is indeed reminiscent of Tang.

Clean and spritzy on the palate, fairly light. Finishes bitter and slightly drying. Almost like liquid orange peel in a way. Orange dominates the flavour. There is just a hint of malt in there and the hops kick in the bitterness.

An average sort of beer with a novelty twist.
