16oz pint at Beer Revolution in Capital City (Alberta's version), now within agreeable walking distance from my downtown abode. (Yay!)

This beer appears a crystal clear medium brassy amber colour, with one finger of bubbly, loosely foamy pale beige head, which leaves some nice scattered bonsai tree lace around the glass as things easily sink away.

It smells of biscuity, bready caramel malt, woody maple syrup, a sharp orchard fruitiness, and leafy, somewhat grassy hops. The taste is a bit more up front with the earthy maple sap essence, though thankfully not at the expense of the bready caramel malt, nor the understated leafy, fruity hoppiness.

The bubbles are average in their bearing, the body medium-light in weight, and a bit astringent in its first attempt at smoothness. It finishes on the semi-sweet side, the maple adjunct and caramel malt doing their best on the road, early morning Timmie's impersonation.

For a country as steeped in maple lore as we are, the beer offerings that incorporate such are strangely lacking. See GIB's and Amber's for the two extremes - I'll be thinking of them as I appreciate the subtle, if not overly complex hand that came up with this one in front of me.
