Can, no date. Threshold beer glass.
S: Quite fruity and hoppy. Big citrus and some yeast esters, with a peach or apricot hint; very nice, very traditional American pale ale aroma.
A: Pours a hazy burnished orange-amber with 1 finger frothy khaki head and very active carbonation. Retains a modest skim of head, and pretty decent lacing. I'd give a quarter point higher if they put a date on the can.
T: Fairly off-dry fruity arrival, quite malty across the mid-palate, somewhat sweet toward the finish, before a potent bittering hop ending. Lingering hop bitterness. Certainly maltier than Columbus Brewing Co.'s Pale Ale.
M: Midweight, somewhat slick, not totally clean finish. Carbonation started off moderate, but by the end was really quite light.
O: Decent, average American pale ale. I had this on draft in 2013, and remember it being fruiter back then, but the texture is totally unchanged. No surprises; nothing really stands out, but sometimes that kind of predictability is precisely what you want. Less aromatic or clean-finishing than Sierra Nevada. I could see myself buying this again for a change of pace, though I'd pick Burning River or Sierra Nevada before of it.

On tap at the brewpub.
pours amber colored with excellent clarity and a good head.
Good but not exceptional aroma. Moderate strength.
The flavor is a bit bolder than expected, leaning a bit toards IPA. Nice hop mix adds complexity.

12 oz. can into a 3F pint glass. Pours light golden and settles slightly deeper in hue once in the glass. Some floaties present among the carbonation bubbles. 2 fingers of white foam initially that receded down to about 1 after a couple minutes. Slight hints of grapefruit on the nose along with notes of sweet, bready malt, citrus, and grass. Medium weight, and quite crisp on the mouthfeel, but still smooth enough. Sweet malt, hay, grass, and some citrus up front on the taste. There's a bit of a wheat presence near the back end, but still lots of sweet malt. Finishes smooth and leaves a dry sweetness behind on the aftertaste.
No can date, so I have no idea how old this beer is. However, it was actually pretty good - probably better than it's 83 rating would suggest. It's actually well balanced enough to be enjoyable while still exhibiting each ingredient to it's potential. Definitely on the sweet side with a lot of earthiness. Not really my idea of a "typical" APA, but still good.
