Well....This is dissapointing. I grabbed one of these on a whim during an Ohio buying trip bur kinda wish I hadn't. This offering pours a very dark mahogany color with almost no head. The aroma is slightly funky with Lots of malt and a very slight hop aroma. The flavor is all roasted malts and a little hops but they seem very stale. This is dissapointing and I hope just a little old. I'd try again if I knew this was fresh.

A: The beer is clear amber in color and has a moderate amount of carbonation. It poured with a finger high off white head. The beer has very good retention properties and hardly died down.
S: Light aromas of earthy yeast, mineral water and toasted malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of mineral water along with notes of earthy yeast and hints of toasted malts. No bitterness is perceptible.
M: It feels light-bodied and slightly watery on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer tastes a little lighter in body compared to other beers in the style and tastes a little like a hybrid between an ESB and an Irish Red Ale.

Appearance: This beer pours a deep red color and is topped with ¾” of white head that tends to hang around in a thin layer well into the pint.
Smell: This is a rather clean smelling beer with just a small amount of malt aroma detected by my nose.
Taste: Again this is a rather clean beer with just a nice blend of malt and a small amount of hops in the flavor.
Mouthfeel: Bleeding buckeye is a light bodied red ale with a tasty blend of malt and hops and a nice clean finish.

Bleeding Buckeye Red Ale is a copper colored brew and a moderate pour is all that is necessary to create a thick, lumpy head of off- white colored foam. The nose is nice, with scents of caramel, earthy tones, and some nuts.

With the flavor, there are few surprises, but no real disappointments either. The taste of this beer features caramel malts, toasted malts, and light earthy hops with a touch of mineral and nutty notes. There is some fruity flavor here, but it is buried behind the caramel and toasted malt flavors, which are what stick with you the most.

This is a fairly well- balanced beer, medium in body and pleasant overall. Even if you’re not a diehard Buckeye fan, you will find many things to like about this beer. It may not rank in your all- time top ten for its style, but there is certainly enough quality here to recommend a sample or two.
