Lauerentina was a pleasent surprise, kudos to the Mozambique brewery! The appeanence was clear and golden with nice carbonation that led to white head. The smell was primarily grain, but had some hops and malt character. The grain taste was balanced nicely by malt and hops which made the beer very drinkable. This beer is worth a taste.

Appearance: Pale gold, moderate head, no lace, very average looking

Smell: Very corn-smelling, with some hops in the background.

Taste: More bitter than I expected (granted, expectatins were low) but the corn flavor is very much apparent.

Mouthfeel: Watery, aftertaste is weird but hard to place - vaguely adjunct-y.

Drinkability: Just one of the many indistinguishable macro lagers that make up the bulk of available African beers. I'd still say it's better than Castle, but that might be partly due to this being my first beer from Mozambique!

330 ml bottle 5,0% Abv

Appearance: The beer pours a clear, light (not as light a most macros) shade of gold. There is a decent white head that, as with most beers of this style fades pretty quickly and leaves no lace.

Smell: Ah yes, nothing can smell as dull as a good old macro-lager. Though I guess dull is a lot better than an overwhelming corn aroma that some lagers have. This aroma (the very little that there is) is comprised of, a little malt, light corn, and some stale hops.

Taste: The corn comes through more in the flavour than in the nose, but again it is not strong enough to render the beer undrinkable. The finish is decently bitter with a hint of hop flavour coming through.

Mouthfeel: Light body with a fairly high level of carbonation. Pretty run of the mill for the style.

Drinkability: This beer is far from horrid and actually puts up a pretty good show for an African lager. Would I drink it again? Yes, but only if I was in Mozambique on a really hot day and I couldn't get the Laurentina stout.
