Poured into a snifter at Ashley's a deep roasted walnut brown with a creamy light beige head that left nice lacing as it settled.Aromas of roasted nuts, chocolate, molasses, and big herbal/citric hops in the back end, alot going on.Chocolate and molasses dominate the flavor profile upfront with fuity tones midway ending with a big shot of pithy hops.Just a tad light in the feel but a really nice beer with a complex flavor profile.

"Mixtape series rolls on with Volume #6 - Ashley's 30th Anniversary Blend. Brewed with orange peel. Draft only offerings."

From 11/27/13 notes. 8oz. pour on tap at Pony Bar HK in NYC.

a - Pours a dark mahogany brown color with two inches of light tan head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells of roasted malts, oranges, milk chocolate, pine and citrus hops, toasted malts, and light coffee. Very roasty but the oranges and citrus definitely come through.

t - Tastes of citrus hops, oranges, roasted malts, grapefruit, sweet and dark chocolate, pine hops, toasted malts, and burnt malts. Taste has more citrus hops and grapefruit than the nose had, and a light bitterness to it.

m - Medium body and moderate carbonation, with some light bitterness in the mouthfeel.

o - Overall a very good black ale; well made and a nice combo of roasted notes, chocolate, and citrus hops. Would have it again, worth checking out if you like the style.
