Enjoyed side by side with Stone's "classic" IPA. Golden in color, a bit lighter than the standard IPA. A two finger head yields some nice lace rings around the glass. While a "light" IPA, this does not apply to the aroma. It's bursting with hoppy goodness. It's very pungent, which is both good and bad. While there's a definite thread of tropical fruit in the form of passion fruit and guava, I have a stronger perception of pine/spruce/resin that I don't care for as much. Still, this is super-aromatic and enjoyable.
Super dry and hoppy flavor profile, as you'd expect. Malt profile is nonexistent. Lots of bitter citrus rind. Some melon flavor, but devoid of any sugars. Initially harsh carbonation settles down after a bit, at which point the texture becomes quite smooth. This is close to hop juice.
It's not a good complement to this cold night, but I could definitely imagine this hitting the spot during the peak of summer. Aromatic like Enjoy By but without the punch. More than anything, this makes me want Stone's regular IPA to be retooled with some "new school" hops.

Pours a hazy straw gold color with a small bubbly white head and average retention. Plenty of bands of lacing on the glass.
Good aroma of piney hops. Taste is piney hops, plenty of bitterness and a little bready malt for balance. I thought I detected a slight trace of (for me) the dreaded Summit hops but it was just a fleeting thing.
Mouthfeel is crisp and rich enough for such a low abv beer. Plenty of bitterness to go around. A solid session IPA.
