A- impenetrable black with an amber hue at the edges when backlit; thick with a milk-chocolate colored head. gorgeous.
S- mmm. so good. makes my mouth water. coffee, cocoa, roasted/burnt malts, alcohol.
T- great. wow. bitter coffee flavor up front accompanied by dark chocolate and roasted malts. super, super roasty. bitter, dark chocolate throughout, but especially in the finish. intense dark fruit sweetness all around. a hint of hops when fresh, but they fade nicely at about the 6 month mark, and are devoured by the overall roastiness.
M- nice and thick, oily on the palate. well carbonated. great mouthfeel.
the 2009 is no let-down. it might have just convinced me to pop my 2008 that's in the cellar soon.
