Poured from a 22oz bottle into a stemmed glass showcased a beautiful dark Copper beer with a 2 finger dense cream colored head, aroma held fruit sweetness, Malt and strong Hops. Nice lace hangs to the glass as you work your way through, taste comes out straight fruit bitters and spicy Hops that leaves a heavy tang on the tongue. Even with the 11.6 ABV this is a Hops upfront beer with the alcohol coming out in the finish as it warms..sort of peeking out in the aftertaste, I could really see this as a Winter warmer to sip on as it snows. Mouthfeel is medium/heavy with a thick and hearty feel to it..satisfying overall and I would grab it again because it's always nice to have a couple heavy hitters tucked in the beer tomb for a rainy day...

Started this because I didn't want to replace my 2012 review.

Bottled on 1/24/14.

First pour is a near crystal clear medium dark amber with a 3 finger light tan head that recedes to a moderately thin layer over the brew but creeping up the glass a bit. Decent lacing
Carbonation bubbles rise through the center early on, then slowly fade away.

Luscious candy-like aroma overall. Sweet caramel/toffee aromas of the malt melded with spicy/citric aromas of the hops. As the beer warms, a moderate alcohol/pine aroma is predominant. .

Sweet malts predominate upfront, Fruity punch of ripe citrus in the middle with bitterness rising to dominance in the end. Almost at the end of the bottle, a blast of cherries.

Medium full in body with plenty of syrup plus the bite of carbonation/alcohol, and the burn of oily hops in the throat.

An excellent brew. The bitterness was disconcerting at first, but my palate soon adapted. Way more bitter than the previous versions of this beer that I've sampled. An improvement of my last sampling in 2012.
