Poured into a tulip. Enjoy by 7/29/14.

A - An aggressive pour yields a clear(ish) golden hue with a couple fingers of white foam. Rings of lacing cling to the glass with each sip. A thin cap remains atop the beer for a good while.

S - Crisp, clean, and spicy; complimented by a good amount of hops. The herbs (lavender and thyme) are there and add a nice touch. Lemon zest, grass, and pepper as well. A good swirl yields earthy and floral notes. Some musty hay in the background. A very complex aroma.

T - Spicy. The same crisp and clean quality of the aroma carries through in the flavor. Citrus and herbal notes are nicely balanced by a sweet(ish) malt character. A big hop presence quickly moves in, leaving a dry and pleasantly bitter finish.

M - Medium body with a good amount of carbonation. Slightly slick, but still finishes dry.

O - A hoppy saison. Very refreshing, with the right amount of complexity. A great beer for the warm transition between Spring and Summer.

Poured for a bottle with an enjoy by 10/4/14; into a tulip.
Appearance - light, clear golden with tiny champagne bubbles. Big, soapy white head that dissipates to a thin layer quickly. Lacing is very minimal.
Smell - sweet and sour; almost cider-like. There is a blend of spice, pear and grass that I kind of dig!
Taste - flavors from the nose are noticeable with each sip; this is a lot like a cider, but far less sweet and very refreshing!
Feel - where I really enjoy the refreshing cider nature of this beer, I would rather do with out the over-carbonated and peppery feel of a cider, and this is what I get with this saison.
Overall - something different, but enjoyable...if I'm looking for a change of pace beer during the Summer, it's great!

First off... huge Stone fan, pretty new to Saison-style beers. Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into my tulip glass. 1/4 finger of white head left quickly, though slight lacing was present throughout. Beautiful copper hue. Interesting aromas of anise, pepper, lavender (as things warmed up), and Belgian funk (in a good way; again, new to saisons). Tasted a hint of lemon, and a nice peppery finish. Smooth mouthfeel. I enjoyed this beer. Nice stepping stones like this could get me more interested in the Belgian styles as a whole. Well worth a try.

Tasted 9 June 2014.

Pours clear golden. Half-finger of fizzy white head, gone quick, not much lacing. Just okay.

Smell is bright and citrusy. Lemon kick with some herbal undertones. Nice.

Taste is decent. Kinda lacking in anything interesting. It's overly lemony, IMO, and then it turns to an herbal bitterness. At very low temps, that was peppery, but some unpleasantness presents as it warms up.

Feel is okay. Light but mouth-filling, in an odd way, kinda buttery. Carbonation could be higher.

An okay saison. One-dimensional in a weird way, with a hefty dose of added citrus that's just too much, overpowering the subtler saison character.
