Aroma is fairly bourbon forward, with big toffee, vanilla, and caramel and a hint of specialty malt fruitiness.

Flavor reveals nutty, deeply toasted and almost roasted malt character. Specialty malt fruitiness is there, but it's subtle in comparison to the overly kilned malt. Tastes a bit buttery and has that diacetyl slickness. Bourbon provides slight respite, but not enough to counter the harsh malt.

The taste of a slightly elevated amber ale, "Bang!" and then a healthy heaping of bourbon, "Bang! Bang!" and it's no wonder how the branding for this special release came about.

Bang Bang is the classic bronzen rust color with a tawny sheen about the edge. As the deep and deviant scent of bourbon billows toward the nose, a lavishly sweet caramel and toffee tandem wraps around the tastebuds.

Unfolding across the palate, the beer's intensely sweet caramel, vanilla, toffee and nutty flavors linger weightily on the tastebuds while the more toasted malt character, light char, oak and faint chocolate round the sweetness into flavors that are more similar to Cracker Jacks candy. As the bourbon simmers underneath, its unmistakable boozy flavors peak through the malts and begin to intensify.

Medium-full in texture, the beer's taste is long and relentless, even as the dryness of alcohol tries desperately to balance the beer. While the beer takes on proportions of Circus Peanut and marshmallow, its bourbon warmth closes the session with a light prickle and numbing effect.

10oz pour into snifter.

A: Served a deep mahogany brown with a finger of creamy dark tan head that slowly faded to a fuzzy collar leaving solid sheet of lace down the glass.
S: Very bourbon forward nose with scents of raisin, toasted bread crust, and mellow spice. Reminds me of the smell of Raisin Bran fresh out of the bag.
T: Follows the nose and still definitely reminds me of Raisin Bran with the grainy bran flakes and a touch of sweet raisins. The finish is mildly spicy and slightly bitter, but I'm not getting much hop quality. Red apple, candied dates leather and leaf tobacco come through in the finish. Bourbon is solid throughout, but there is no heat. Sweet clean bourbon in the aftertaste with lingering hints of leather and dates. I get a few hints of buttery oak as well.
M: Smooth and very clean mouthfeel. Sweetness is not cloying and the booze is not warming. Drinks very well.
O: Interesting flavor profile. I liked it, but it's different than what I expected. Not in a bad way, just different. Sweet bourbon without the heat was delicious.
