I had to do a update on this beer today. I had it last night--9-17 at Papago's Hopageddon and it was must of been a much more fresh batch than the first time I had it. I thought the dry hopping really was evident this time aground and the flavor was really fresh tasting as well. Would love to get a sixtel of this some time. Thanks papago for a great IPA night.
Appearance: Has a nice golden, hazy color to it with a pure white head. Lacing is really good. Held a slight head the whole time while drinking.
Smell: This has a great citrus orange smell to it. Slight tangerine smell as well. Much better nose than the normal Ruination. I was actually picking up a slight, biscuit, malt note to it. The last fresh Ruination I bought a six pack of had a better nose to it actually.
Taste: This as it's dry hopped twin brother has a mostly bitter note to it. When first drinking it had a decent amount of tropical flavors like mango and some orange to it but after drinking for a few minutes the taste mostly changed to the bitter side. There did not seem to be any malt to this in the taste but the regular version it seemed to have a slight malt component to it.
Mouothfeel: Nice, normal amount of carbonation that delivers the Ruination's bitter bite.
Overall: I had pretty high expectations for this one. The dry hopping it on this had a hell of a nose to it. I am blown away what the dry hopping did to this. Top 3 best IPA/Double IPA I have had this year easily. I wish stone would bottle this because it is one hell of a winner.
Serving type: on-tap
