500ml bottle, corked and caged, from Stone Bistro. What a whale this is - 262 bottles released!
Hazy orangish-copper in color with a small off-white head and great lacing.
The aroma is pretty intense despite the fact that this is a couple months old. Citra hops are evident with big orange and grapefruit, along with earthy and piney notes. Some sweet malt and buttery hints in the background.
The flavor is damn good. Mild malt base with a huge brutal hop punch. Big grapefruit that almost adds a sourness as well as some earthiness, and the bitterness on the finish is almost off the charts.
Medium-full body with a brutal enamel-stripping mouthfeel. Nice carbonation level even though the cork was tough to remove.
Haters be damned, this is a very good DIPA. Packs a punch and is enjoyable to drink.
