Had it on tap at Leroy's in Montgomery, the best bar for beer in the city

A-Pours a pitch black color with a toffee colored, sticky head that clings to the sides of the glass as I sipped it.

S-Heavy on the vanilla, sweet milk chocolate, cocoa and bitter coffee.

T-Vanilla hits the front of the palate and it fades into a roasted flavor. Smokiness combines with that roasted char note and it finishes pretty sweet with vanilla and milk chocolate.

MF-Creamy, full bodied, rich, but still maintains a touch of airiness. Very nice here.

O-A good brew. This is the first smoked porter I've ever had, so I wish it was their basic one so I could get a better idea of what to expect, but I wasn't going to pass it up.

I like this beer, but only to have one as a change of pace. It definitely has a strong vanilla smell and taste that dominates it. It has nice carbonation which I like in stouts and porters. A nice dessert beer that is a quality entry from Stone, but some people might be put off by the domination of the vanilla.

Now this is what I think is a great smoked beer, but it is much milder than many smoked flavors. That's the beauty of it, subtle flavors, but lots of them.

It opens black and gives a little head and nice dark lace. The aroma reveals the vanilla and smoke - duh. Nice. Then comes the wonderfully balanced taste. A little vanilla, a little smoked, a bit bitter, some malt. A wonderful combination.

The aftertaste is bitter and nice. Lingering. This is the best beer I've had in a the last week or so, and I've had a few good ones (and lots of ambitious ones). A nice treat.

A- after an aggressive pour there was a good amount of head about 2 fingers worth, with good retention leaving a thin layer on top. The color looks black but up to the light it gives a dark brown color.

S- I thought this smelled great with hints of roasted malts and at the end I get a good amount of vanilla which is very inviting.

T-right up front I get roasted malts with a little bit of cocoa, then a whole lot of vanilla, nothing that is overpowering, just the right amount and to finish I get a smokey flavor that leaves a nice finish

M- medium with a decent amount of carbonation

O- I enjoyed this beer more than expected, it had a nice smell and it had the right amount of vanilla to give it a nice enjoyable taste, might pick up another if i find one.

Enjoy by 3/15/14. 22oz bottle poured into a snifter. Pours black with some light getting through; fluffy off-white head that sticks around and leaves great lacing and retention. The aromas are nice, but pretty subtle. They really open up as it warms though. Lots of roasted malts. Cocoa malts too. Some smoke and chocolate in the mix. The vanilla is subtle in the aromas, but really shine in the flavors. Tastes good. Lots of vanilla bean. The vanilla tastes natural and not artificial. The vanilla also doesn't overwhelm the other flavors. Great balance. Lots of chocolate malts. There's a subtle roastiness to this one. Solid bitterness. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is very good. It's medium-bodied with active carbonation. At times it can feel thin, but there's actually alot of body to it and it's very creamy and fluffy. Very smooth. Easy and fun to drink. It becomes even more enjoyable as it warms up.

This is a very nice porter. The vanilla really comes through and shines without being overwhelming. I wish this still came in 12oz bottles, but oh well. This is worth checking out.

A: This beer has a pretty big head (about two and a half fingers length). But that's expected from a 5.9%. At first look, it appears black as night, but when put up to the light, the beer becomes a very dark ruby color.

S: I can really smell the vanilla on this one. It's pretty potent up close. I'm getting some chocolate and roast as well.

T: This is good. Vanilla, coffee, chocolate, some hops, bitter chocolate, and smoke. Not sure if it's because I've been craving beer for a couple of days, or because this is simply an well-made brew, but the taste of this beer is excellent.

M: The taste is my favorite; not so much the mouth. Although not bad, it's rather thin. But the carbonation makes up for it. I wasn't expecting thick, but not thin. It is not a bad feel over all though.

O: This beer was a treat, and I'm glad that I bought it. The mouth feel was a bit disappointing to me, but the taste you get out of this beer is definitely worth it, and I would buy it again. Great if you're looking for a dark beer but don't necessarily want a heavy stout.
