Poured bottle into glass. 7/14/14 freshness date. 8.3 % abv.
Appearance- Quite dark and opaque. Nearly black with a monstrous brown-tinted head that lasts. Not unlike a stout.
Smell- Intense fresh aroma of pine. Citrus is prominent as well with hints of orange peel. No shortage of smell.
Taste- Much the same profile as the smell, keeping up with the superb freshness. Elements of pine and an earthy malt flavor are made much apparent at first. This is followed by a grapefruit blast of hops. The bitterness afterwards is right on par with this generous hopped beer. Perhaps a slight roasted malt tone but this was easily passed by the pine/grapefruit transitional blast, if there was some roasted flavor. This was not indicative to the look.
Mouthfeel- Very heavy thick and creamy in texture, this was aided by the super high carbonation.
Overall- I was impressed. This is a strong yet smooth hop bomb. Easy drinking and packed with flavor. Possibly one of the biggest heads of all my bottle pours. I never had an ale so dark. What an awesome, heavy brew.

12oz bottle from Stone variety pack, poured into pint glass. Enjoy by 10/02/14.
Black body with reddish hints when held up against a light. Small tan colored head, well carbonated, and good lacing.
Faint sweetness on the nose.
Taste was very nice, sweet with only a very faint bitterness. Roasted malts come out at the end. (Similar pattern to Arrogant Bastard) Mouth was around medium.
I personally do not really understand Black Ales/IPA's, seems to me there are always much better options on either the IPA or stout side. This one seems to favor the stout side. Taste seem to improve as the ale warmed up toward room temperature. Overall, an enjoyable drink.
