Pours a nearly opaque black with a touch of reddish brown. Huge head like an IPA. Head is dark brown.
Aroma is very hoppy with a touch of caramel. Citrus like ruby red grapefruit flesh, orange rind, lemon and lime juice.
Taste is very hoppy with notes of caramel. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't much roasted grain flavor. To me, it was missing bitter chocolate/acrid coffee tastes BUT... BUT.. it was a very satisfying beer nonetheless. I could easily mistake this for a pale IPA in a blind taste test simply because the hops are the star of the show. The color makes it look maltier than it actually tastes. I bet this would age like a nice barleywine.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied (Definitely not RIS thick but thicker than ruination). Nice carbonation keeps the palette lit up.
Drinkability: This is a big beer but it drinks very smoothly.
