22oz. bottle poured into my Duvel tulip...

Pours a very dark brown, borderline black with 3 fingers of very light tan head which sticks around forever. Decent lacing left throughout the drink...

Does not smell at all how it looks. Sweet, citrusy hops, grapefruit and some piny hop aromas as well. Lightly balanced by some roasted malt, but this beer smells as good as some of the best IPA's...

The sweet/citrus aroma does not transfer over to the taste. As where this beer did not smell at all like you would expect from a dark beer, the taste is what you would expect. Roasted bitter malt and some coffee. A bitter hop presence shows up in the finish and leaves some lingering piny taste. The more you drink, the more you pick up the hops...roasted upfront and finishes like a nice IPA...

Medium bodied, bordering on heavy. Somewhat chewy and coating. Decent carbonation and a slight alcohol presence...

Pretty good beer here, definitely think the nose was the best part of this beer, highly unexpected given the pour. Have had on tap and from the bottle and both were pretty damn good...

Black in color and poured a frothy and delicious two finger head when poured from a 12oz btl.

Tastes of licorice, wood, licorice, and booze. No complaints here.

Perfect balance of hops and malts. Could not get this down my throat quick enough. Slight licorice bitterness, but the malts counteract it perfectly.

Mouthfeel is silky, rich, and boozy, a definite keeper.

Overall this is one of my favorite versions of a black IPA. Just Simply Great.

Pours a nearly opaque brown black, almost 1 inch head that falls to about 1/4" and lasts. Lots of lacing.

Smells of sweet roasted malts with a hint of hops.

Tastes of dark malty sweetness up front, citrus hops come in and there is a hint of the alcohol at the finish.

Medium body and mild carbonation makes this almost creamy.

Overall, great black IPA, I'm not a huge fan of the style, but this one is tasty.
