Years ago I received a bottle of Stone 11 as part of a trade, and was really not sure what to think about it. A beer that dark and with that much of a hop blast was something I wasn't ready for at the time, but apparently I'm ready for it now.
Opaque, dark brown pour with a tan head yields a good bit of lacing with nice retention.
I'm not smelling a ton of anything these days, but the hops are quite easily perceptible. However, my taste buds are in fine form and there is a lot going on here. Bitter semisweet chocolate is predominant, espresso, and a bitingly bitter finish.
Seriously easy to drink, where is that 8.7%? I haven't felt it yet. Stone, keep right on bringing it.
