poured a dark opaque brown. wonderful smell and fullness. excellent carbonation and head. very creamy head with tremendous lace. rich body and taste but not overpowerfully full. i drank a 22 oz and did not feel bloated and full.

yet another masterpiece from Stone. this company is certainly in my top five brewers that i have had the pleasure of enjoying!!!

Poured from a 22 oz. bomber into a Duvel tulip.

A-Pours out deep,deep,jet-black with only the slightest hint of light permeating it.A dense, creamy, camel tan head of 3 inches sat atop it and showed good retention before smearing the inside of the glass with extremely sticky, sheets of lacing.

S-Big punch upfront of orange zest, stonefruit and pine with supporting notes of semisweet chocolate and slightly burnt toast.Beautiful blend of fruity sweetness and Dark chocolate/dark roast tang on the nose.

T-Initially,aggressive citric hop sweetness and bitterness take the lead but these are supported by lightly charred malts, sweet chocolate and some dried fruit flavors. At one point this totally reminded me of an orange Tootsie Pop.

M-Medium/full body with good carbonation,a nice lingering oily character and great roasted malt qualities.

O-This is a truly exceptional brew and a definite repeater!

Dense, dark garnet-black bordering on midnight in all but the thinnest regions of the glass, with a massive pillowy head of tan foam.

Aroma of dark malts, tannins, leather, leafy hops.

Taste is smooth and creamy dark malts first, then some moderate leafy hops mingling with a hint of citrus and pine. Finish turns almost light and fluffy with just a mild twinge of alcohol.

Easy to drink for its size and incredibly more-ish... imagine a schwarzbier brewed with ale yeast and then hopped to standard American IPA levels.

In a word, exceptional.

Bomber [best by 1/14/14 - just in time ;-) ] - agressive pour into DFH signature glass

a - thick fluffyy off-white colored head, beer is black with an so slight brown hue. There was a ridiculous amount of lacing on the glass as I drank the brew down.

s - pine, some dark fruits, malts

t - dark malts, citrus, enjoyable bitter finish

mouthfeel - great carbonation, medium to strong body, a bit slick

overall - very enjoyable. I don't really drink Black IPA's often but I think I should start, or at least buy this beer more often.

My first Stone beer. Poured into a crystal beer mug the beer is almost black with hints if red when held into the light. The head is rich and creamy light brown and holds up good time, leaving good lacing. Very attractive.
Smell is fruity and hints grapefruit and citrus.
Tasting the beer you get hit with a very refreshing fruity front, where the grapefruit and citrus tastes are dominant. In the middle a roasted malt will come through and checked by a good amount of hops in the end. Great balance and interesting lingering of a bittersweet aftertaste.
Great mouthfeel of a fantastic medium bodied beer. What a experience, will definitely buy it again, and will try more from this brewer.

Pours black (obviously since it's a black IPA) with a fairly thin, tannish oily head that forms to about half a finger and then dissipates to a bubbly surface layer. Some lacing remains on the glass, which is nice.

Very aromatic. Dark roast coffee along with an earthy & cascade hop. A bit of alcohol on the nose as well.

Sipping is much more hoppy than I originally expected. Lots of dark roasty malt but not as chewy as expected. A nice bit of burnt coffee hits on the finish w/ a bit of the alcohol coming through subtly.

Body is not as chewy as I originally expected but nice balance and great taste.

I'm going to enjoy this one. It seems like a mix between almost an imperial stout and an IPA. Very nice brew. Cheers!

A- Poured into my DFH snifter... A pitch black liquid pours from the bottle producing a finger thick creamy off white head with nice retention and moderate lacing

S- Not overwhelming but nice... smells mixed grapefruit and floral with a bit of sugary malty sweetness

T- Starts with a hint of sweetness before the dryer coffee flavor takes over. Finishes with with a nice citrusy hop bite. Not a hint of the 8.7% abv

M- Light/medium carbonation with medium body

D- I hear so much hype about Stone beers and for some reason without trying many of them, feel like its overdone... this one definitely lives up to the hype. A delicious Black Ale worth trying

CHEERS!!
