22oz bomber poured into a snifter.

A- Pours black with a finger's worth of head that sticks around for awhile. The head slowly dissipates into a sticky film along the sides of the glass.

S- Smells great, tons of citrusy hops dominate the aroma. I get some slight hints of an almost toffee/chocolate like smell also, but very subtle.

T- Starts off with some citrus and pine hop notes, gives way to dark fruits and toffee-like malts. Good stuff, very different.

M- Medium to heavy, carbonated well, bitter yet malty.

Sublimely is yet another stellar showing from Stone. It's the best of both worlds with malty and hoppy characters.

Pours an opaque, very dark brown with a foamy, persistent, root beer head. Aroma is conspicuously absent, given the gorgeous presentation. Some raw grain, some citrus hop notes. Nice, evenly balanced mouthfeel between the fullness and the carbonation. Flavors are comprised of spooned mashing grain, lemon, pine, and grass. Some dark roasted barley. Finishes with some faint pine and unfermented sugar. Big beer, but not because of any one big flavor. This is my favorite Stone brew. That's not saying a lot because I think most are deplorable. But, I do like this one a lot.

Poured from a 22oz bomber into a pint glass

Appearance: Centimeter head formed very fast and retained throughout drinking. Left awesome lacing on glass. Pours very dark with a nice creamy head. Looks great.

Smell: Alot of toffee and malt with some lemony hops. Wanted more in terms of smell

Taste: Here is where it gets really good. Citrus front end--hoppy, even some grassy resin. Lemony and some spicy orange peel. The malts kick in mid taste--and they taste great. Toffee, even roasted mild chocolate. It finishes pretty clean too with a citrus spice, and I am left with a citrusy/coffee after taste. Very complex.

Mouthfeel: Smooth for a medium bodied. Carbonation is on point.

Stone has a reason to be proud of this one. I can't understate how complex this beer tastes--so much so that I feel that I'm missing something and underrating it. Will definitely revisit--would love to try this on tap. Highly recommend

Poured from a 22oz bomber.

Appearance is dark almost stout like with a 2 cm head that fades rather quickly. Beautiful. 4.5

Smell is that of a double IPA on Guinness steroids. Excellent 4.0

Taste is magnificent! Think a ruination with a small batch of old Rasputin and that's exactly what this great ale Sums up to. Nice and bitter with just the right amount if hops to dark roasted barley. Grapefruit then coffee beautifulness! 5.0

Mouthfeel is nice and carbonated yet very smooth, dare I say velvet? Groovy. 4.5

Overall my vote would be to rate this up there with the best of them. Pallet differences aside for anyone who likes porter/stouts and a great IPA this is for you. Hands down the best "black IPAS" I've ever had. Thank you Stone brewery!
