22 oz bomber style brown bottle with beautiful stone screen printed label in gold. Poured into a pint glass.
A - golden/yellow to light orange with a slight bit of haze. Fluffy pure white head that takes it's time setting into a solid ring of lace which provided good stick to the glass.
S - banana bread with some spice. Lemon zest with good sweetness following. Fruity like hop aroma along with a touch of pine notes. Amazing belgian style yeast aroma.
T - Belgian in style and Stone Brewing at heart. Flavors of banana sweetness with fruity aspects of lemon and orange. A touch of honey. Tasty wheat flavor. Cloves and spices. Hops give off a nice spice with little bitterness. Hops are very smooth however. Not the knock you in the mouth flavor like most American made IPAs. They are there, about to take full control and then they smooth out while you forget about them. Good mixture of both Stone Brewing and Belgian yeasts.
M - medium bodied and brilliant. Mellow feel mouth start to finish making it easy to drink. Good crisp, clean finish.
O - wonderful tasting beer with a Belgian funk paired with a Stone west coast style. Not a bad funk. A dang good tasting and flavorful funkiness. Cali-Belgique screams class and style. With it's mellow hop presence it's one anyone can enjoy.

I was looking for something a bold and different and went with this unique brew.
color:7-9 SRM, a beautiful rich golden color.
Appearance: poured thick like tripple, nice thick head, and slightly effervescent.
Mouthfeel: thick, heavy
Smell: yeasty, hints of orange, lemon.
Taste: yeasty and bread like with lemon and slight citrus notes.
Experience: was stoked at the thought of a Belgian/American IPA hybrid beer. Poured a great golden color and nice long lasting 1 finger head. From the first taste I think Belgian all the way. It's heavy mouthfeel and bready/yeasty flavors soak the palate, only to be cut by a slight lemon citrus finish from those west coast hops.
I expected more of a hop presence, but I'm disappointed in a good way. This beer is descriptively complex and is a must try for hop heads and Belgian lovers alike.
