Bomber poured into a Duvel tulip. No freshness dating on the bottle. Clear, golden body that looks great. Two-finger white head that leaves sticky rings of lacing and a foamy cap on the top.
Excellent aroma that is very rich. Deep hop notes of both the more "bitter" pine and grapefruit spanning the distance over to the more "sweet" floral and tropical notes. I get a strong sense that the tropical notes are a result of the combination of the Belgian yeast and the west coast hops. Some additional fruity esters from the yeast complete the aroma.
Interesting flavor that seems to really work. The piney and fruity hop flavors are blended with those produced by the yeast to make one of the more unusual flavors I've had in a beer. I get some caramel malt sweetness in the finish as well.
No substantial notice of the alcohol in this one. Drinkable for sure. One of the better experimental brews I've had and it works.
