A: Poured a deep rust color, appeared more orange in the growler though. Good carbonation and a dirty white head.

S: Like a regular Arrogant B. Very little if ant barrel influence

T: What happened here? This tasted like a regular Arrogant B. Minimal bourbon, no wood, no traditional barrel notes. Still has booze and hop bite

M: Bittering hops, booze, sticky and creamy on very end

D: Average for BA strong ale

On tap at Champions in Copley Square in Boston.

Was an "experiment" for Stone to see how far they can stretch the bourbon barrels; this one was done as a third barreling. Not a significant taste of bourbon, but I was left with a much more bitter, burnt wood quality. Overall not terrible, but not what I was expecting.

Poured in an oversized wine glass.

A - Pours a dark brown with some hints of dark dark honey. Had a very thin head that left no lacing on the glass.

S - Alcohol is the first thing I smell, followed by some prune character which I can identify as the bourbon aspect of it. Also some hops there at the end but not too much.

T - Quickly the bourbon is felt and a prune taste that comes with it. Some sweeter malts felt throughout the middle as well and then at the end some roasted feel to it as well a mild hop induced bitterness and feel.

M - Medium bodied a bit oily on the tongue with med-low carbonation. Still well balanced. A little sweet for my liking.

D - I could only really have one. Mostly because of the sweetness.

On tap at Acre's stone takeover.

Purs a deep ruby with a light cap of sticky white foam.

Unusual beer. I'm happy I got to try this one.

Smell's a bit boozy - lots of citrus and piney hops, a touch of oak and bourbon, some sweet malt and a hints of a somewhat unpleasant earthy aroma.

Taste is initially very piney - almost like a spruce tree. Must be the bourbon interacting with the hops. It's not terribly pleasant. Underneath that there are sweet caramel malts and bourbon - almost like a BA Wee Heavy coated with spruce.

Mouthfeel is what you'd expect - medium bodied, creamy, smooth, and a bit sticky.

Overall - there's an odd amalgam of flavors. I don't think the bourbon aging helped this one.
