Pours a mirky brown wiith a slight reddish tint. Solid 1-2 finger thick frothy tan head. Short to Medium retention and moderate lacing. Noticeable light sediment througout.
Nice sweetness on the nose with notes of dark fruit, candy sugar, dates, figs, caramel and rich malt
Great full rich flavor that has real nice balance. Great sweetness up front with similar nose notes. Dark fruits and rich malt. Hop notes peek through towards the end and more as the beer warms a little. Nice Hop notes are like a pinesap-orange peel.
Good carbonation, full bodied mouthfeel. Smooth and a little tacky.
Overall I Love this beer. I had this when it first was released and loved it then. Trying it now, I Love it still but think it's good to go. Any more aging and the hop character will be gone and the sweet maltiness will dominate. So if you have one, don't sit on it much longer.

Enjoy by January 13.
Pours a slightly hazy amber with a frothy khaki head that lingers.
Pine, resin, and grapefruit are supported by sweet burnt sugar and toasted bread in the aroma. Pine dominates. Dark fruit notes of prunes and fig add intrigue.
Flavor begins with burnt breadcrust and deeply caramelized sugar, with underlying grapefruit pith, herbal tea, and pine, finishing fairly dry and bitter. Oak and resin linger in the aftertaste.
Body is a little full, with low carbonation and moderate alcohol warmth.
Interesting combination of flavors, thought the burnt character dominates and is slightly unpleasant.
